The Christmas tree is my favorite part of Christmas. I have such fond memories of decorating our tree each year with my mom. In our house, it's definitely a girl thing...my dad and brother couldn't run farther when we say it's Christmas tree decorating day ;) My mom and I make a whole day of it. We wake up, go grab our holiday Starbucks drinks {now with Hope in tow}, and come back to the house to get the lights on the tree. Next up, we get out the three boxes of ornaments, unwrapping them with care. Reminiscing over each ornament is always so special-- it feels like just yesterday that I was a little girl waking up on Christmas morning. Now I'm a big girl coming home from college for the holidays!
This year we decided to go for a natural, glittery, neutral & cranberry look. Much like our mantle, our tree follows suit with these elements. We started by wrapping the tree in the gold ribbon {found at Joanne's Fabrics} then added the glittery pinecones, trees and cranberry-colored ornaments. Next we layered our West Elm snowflake felt ornaments, personal ornaments and finished by filling in with red berries to add more color. Our tree topper is a sparkly gold star. One of my favorite new additions this year is our new tree skirt. It's a fuzzy white fur skirt from West Elm. Can you tell we love that store?! If Hope lays on it, we couldn't find her :) By the way, she's a terror with the tree. While she looks rather harmless laying there for the picture, do not be deceived. Sometimes she goes in the living room and pretends to "sniff" when really she's moving the ribbon and rearranging the ornaments with her nose. Silly girl.

Totally gorgeous. Your photography lately has been really lovely...that opening shot of the lights and Hope is great!
ReplyDeletei love your tree. :) and hope looks so cute and innocent. zac's dog scout has decided to rip up the tree skirt so she can eat the piece of cardboard we put under it to keep the tree level. we have to barricade the tree with chairs now. and we cant put out any presents or she will rip them up like she has done to all the fed-ex boxes. and my dog bailey has taken to eating the ornaments of the bottom of the tree.
