Valentine's Day Cards & DIY Calligraphy

I really can't believe it's almost Valentine's Day! Each year I try to send out my girlfriend's some type of Valentine Day card. This year, my friend's at Minted hooked me up with the CUTEST cards, complete with glitter paper liners. I'm convinced getting snail mail with glitter inside is the best thing ever {as long as the glitter doesn't get all over everything, which I assure you this does not!} ;)

I also went on Etsy and found beautiful vintage stamps from Verde Studio. Virginia sent me a whole bunch of pretty vintage love-themed stamps and I had the best time putting them on each envelope. I think these fun throw backs were the perfect finishing touch to some old-fashioned mail.

The last thing I did to make the card feel extra special was trying out some fancy writing. I won't go as far to call it calligraphy, but it's still cursive and pretty. As far as handwriting goes, I have good penmanship, but am by no means like some of the amazing calligraphers out there. For any of you who want to try your hand {pun intended} at calligraphy, I think I came up with an easy way to give it a whirl. You probably don't even need these instructions, but here they are anyways!

Step 1: Find your favorite font online and download it if it hasn't been downloaded already.
Step 2: Type up your friend's names and print them out. Cut out each friend's name so they are separate from one another.
Step 3: Slip the typed name between the envelope, hold the envelope up to a window so you can see through it and with a pencil, trace their name onto the envelope. Go over in pen {I am obsessed with Sharpies.}
Step 4: Once you've traced the name, now you can slip in the glitter liner and seal it up with washi tape.

Note: I just wrote the name in a fancy cursive {using the font Anna Clara} and wrote the rest of the address in my regular all-caps sans serif block lettering.

Here are some pictures of my sweet Valentine's!

My sweet friend Megan let me use the envelope I addressed to her as an example!

 DETAILS | Valentine Cards / Vintage Stamps / Washi Tape

If you're looking for some quick and cute Valentine Day cards or other Valentine products, Minted most definitely has you covered! You still have enough time to get them shipped and ready to send out. I always love browsing their site and swooning over their adorable party decor, announcements, and more. Paper and handwritten notes are my love language, so I just had to share this with you!

Let me know if you try your own calligraphy {or fancy writing, as I call it!}

Happy Thursday!

  7. I love the glitter liners! I also had no idea that you could buy stamps on Etsy! I always wondered where people got their fun assortments. When I was doing my Christmas Cards this year I wanted to do a collection of stamps on each envelope like this but had a hard time finding what I needed and being able to order the correct amount for each card! Thanks for the tips!

  13. This is such a great idea! I also love how you used washi tape for the envelopes. I just bought a ton of washi tape at Target's dollar spot and was wondering what to do with it. :)
