Happy Wednesday...and Happy August! Where has the month of July gone?! Today I'm introducing you to a lovely blogger- Heather of The Lovely Cupboard
Heather's blog is a wealth of inspiration, recipes, sweet crafts and home projects. If I had half her cooking skills I'd be thrilled :) Today she's here sharing what she's loving and what she's not! Take it away...

Hello there! I'm Heather from The Lovely Cupboard, and I'm excited to share some of my fav picks with you today. First, let me say that I originally started brainstorming things for the "She loves me" list and realized that they were all foods...and the only thing on my "She loves me not" list was "diets". Does this tell you a thing or two about me? Well, I do love and think about food more than any one girl should, but I tried to broaden my list to include other interests as well.

She Loves Me...
1. Color Blocking
This trend is everywhere from clothing to interior design. It took me a while to jump on the bandwagon, but now I'm hooked. It's a little reminiscent of the 80's ( a decade where i made some regrettable fashion choices), but now color blocking feels fresh and bold.

2. Hand Lettering
There is something so beautiful about gorgeously crafted lettering. It really is an art form. I recently worked with the very talented Molly Jaques for my new logo. When I first saw her work, I sat with a hand on my cheek, mouth open, staring at the computer completely entranced by the details. Here is some of her work.
Also very talented is the lovely Lindsay Sherbondy of Lindsay Letters. How cute is that wood slice chalkboard??
3. Key Lime Anything
If key lime pie is on the menu, I don't even have to think about what I'm ordering for dessert. (Sometimes this can be a lengthy process that usually ends with me asking my husband to get one thing I want while I order the other.) The zesty flavor of the tiny key lime packs a powerful citrus punch in any dessert. Here are some yummy desserts that I wouldn't turn down.

4. New School Supplies
There is nothing like the feel of freshly sharpened pencils and new paper. As a teacher for the last 8 years, school supplies are something I take pretty seriously! Not only do I make lists for my 5th graders, I also have a list of my own school necessities every August.
She Loves Me Not...
1. Delayed Flights
We recently took a much needed vacation that lasted a little longer than expected. There is nothing worse than having a delayed flight when you just want to sleep in your own bed. Our connecting flight was delayed, and we ended up rushing to the next gate only to see our final plane pulling away. We knew this meant hours in a crowded airport with crappy food, uncomfortable seats, and more hours away from home. By the time we got home around 4 am, I never loved my own pillow more!
2. Pageant Girls (and their moms)
I literally have to change the channel if an episode of Toddlers and Tiaras comes on. It makes me so sad to see little girls with spray tan, high heels, and caked make up. I've heard all the arguments that it "builds self-esteem" and teaches little girls to to "speak in public". Sorry. Not buying it. So sad to see little girls paraded around like that, while it seems that the moms are much more motivated by the crowns than their little girls are.
Well, that's just a short list of some "loves" and "love nots". Thanks so much to Michaela for having me!
XO Heather

ReplyDeleteHey. I just found your blog and I already love The Lovely cupboard. It seems like we have a lot in common, not just our names. I'm an Interior Designer but I tend to blog about the other aspects of my life, including my inspiration which I take a lot from nature. Love your blog. I'll be following along :)
