Fixer Upper's Garden Design & Spring Faves at Hearth & Hand

Hey friends! Hope you enjoyed your weekend. My husband got sick on Saturday morning, so I took Lincoln over to his dog brother's house to have a play date. His brother's owner is one of my design clients and I just adore her, so it was fun to see her, chat about their family room design, and play with the pups. We also gave Lincoln a little (much needed) face trim. Doodles' rapid hair growth is no joke, guys!

Well we've got some sun in the forecast and there are no days with temps under 40 degrees in the 10 day forecast, so I'm beginning to get semi excited about Spring! Its IS Michigan, so it could always change (like my Grandma says, just stick around 15 minutes and the weather will change here ;)) But peeks of sunshine, combined with watching one of the latest episodes of Fixer Upper this last week has Spring on the brain. AND! Easter is only 4 weeks away, which is seriously crazy to me!

Did you guys catch the episode where Chip and Jo built and created their garden and garden "shed"? Shed is in quotes because....did you see that thing?! It's half the size of our apartment and pretttyyy nice! ;) There were so many elements I loved about the design, I thought I'd share some highlights. That led me to checking out a few of their new items in the Hearth + Hand collection at Target, so my favorite picks are below.

Here's that "shed" they built ;)

The outside garden area is so adorable, quaint and charming. Almost looks like it's pulled out of the European countryside.

Have you noticed that JoJo sticks to a lot of the same design principles on any given project? I love that she knows what she likes and what works. I also love that this season she's stepping a bit out of her usual design comfort zone and not boxing the home designs into the over-the-top shabby chic / farmhouse styles. There are still elements of this, but it's not in your face. She still uses the same principles, like wood and metal elements, simple decorations and big windows, but she's really making sure to highlight the style the couple / family loves.

Some takeaways from this charming space:

- Go BIG with windows. Don't be afraid to chose a window with a design in the pane. Notice how all the windows in the space have this unique diamond lattice pattern.

- Go BOLD with light fixtures. I always tell my clients lighting is like the jewelry for your home. For greater impact, she went with two of the same light fixtures.

- Don't be afraid to mix metals and finishes. You'll see the matte black faucet, brass/bronze light fixtures, darker concrete counters with a lighter concrete sink, varying light / warm wood tones, and lots of other textures seen in books and pots. The rule of thumb in mixing metals and texture like this is to make sure each element has a "buddy". So the matte black found in the sink is also found in the hardware on the sliding bookcase ladder and the knobs on the potting station drawers. See how that works?! It's also important to chose a dominant metal and then accent metals when mixing a few different tones.

- Don't skimp on greenery! This is one of Joanna's very favorite ways to decorate, have you noticed? Most of her decor in Fixer Uppers consist of vases and jugs that are filled with lush, beautiful greenery. Most of the time they're faux! Chose a real-looking faux plant or get low-maintenance living plants to help make your home come alive and look more vibrant.

Watching this episode of Fixer Upper got me curious about the new things in the Hearth & Hand Collection at Target. Like usual, they are super simple pieces that will blend with your current decor. This season there's even a few Easter-inspired pieces :)
SHOP: chandelier / metal vase set / rattan wall art / succulent cutting / eucalyptus cutting / brass floor lamp / clear glass goblet / egg tray / bunny ear egg holder / jade glass cupcake stand / vases and jugs

Did you see this episode where they designed the garden?! My friend Ashley has watched it twice because this will be her second summer growing her own garden and this year she's expanding it. She got lots of great ideas and inspiration from Jo!

Have you checked out the spring collection for Hearth & Hand? If you got anything, let me know what!

Happy Monday!

Spring Hearth & Hand Collection Faves & What I Got

Thanks for all your kind comments about my latest client reveal! We had so much fun with that kitchen design. Yesterday before I went to Starbucks to work for a few hours, I popped into Target to see the Hearth & Hand by Magnolia Spring line for the first time. There are some really fun pieces! What I like about the collection is how neutral and basic it is. You can get a few of these items to layer with and just add seamlessly into your current decorations.

PS. I cannot believe they're expecting!! I guess I just didn't see that one coming. So fun!
Here were some favorites for me:

I love the emerald color of these glasses.
They also come in clear, though!
This aluminum charger with gold trim is one of my favorite things! They're only $9.99 a piece!

Loving the dotted pitcher. Perfect for serving a drink or to put some branches in for display on your bookshelf.

Simple candle with a touch of gold. Loved the smell of this one!

The faux wreaths are really nice! Which is always surprising to me ;)

These hurricane glasses could be filled with a taller pillar candle and place on a coffee table, console table or inside your fireplace if it doesn't work and you do candle displays instead.

This astilbe is the only fake plant I didn't feel like looked super real. It's very plastic-y ;) Just being honest! BUT I do love the metal house behind it and the pitchers it's in. The dogwood blooms behind there in the picture are also great. I was so close to getting them, but since there's still snow here, I'm sticking it out with my cotton branches.

The new office folders are super cute!!
A little round up of my favorite things below. I just mightttt have picked up the set of three wooden houses. I can't quit houses, you guys! I'm excited to style them on our faux mantel ledge up our staircase. I'll show you soon!

Have you gone in the store to see the collection? If so, what'd you grab?
Have a lovely day

Hearth & Hand with Magnolia Collection for Target

Happy Monday!! Hope you had a great weekend! My family was in from California and Dallas this past week / weekend, so we had a great time with them. When your family is spread out over the country, it's always a treat to just be with them.

Okay, so BIG news! You've probably heard, but Magnolia's collection for Target, called Hearth & Hand, is in stores AND online! This isn't like the Lilly Pulitzer sale where once the pieces are gone, they're gone. This is an on-going collection, which is even better news, because this girl doesn't have time for mean ladies at Target raging for some Magnolia stuff ;) However, I did go to my local Target and the people there said there was a line out of the door at 8am when they opened! I got a few things, which I'll show you below, but man I wish I had just purchased a few things online instead of going to the store and seeing that half the collection was gone. Of course, these things will be out of stock temporarily, but they'll all be back shortly (I think-- that's what the lady there told me!)

SHOP:

Those bud vase houses are so cute-- clearly I love anything that's in the shape or pattern of a house! I also adore the welcome doormat. I think it works for all seasons, but is especially cute for the holidays as it sort of has a ribbon look to it. The lamb ear wreath is so sweet! It's 24", which is a great size! I ordered this one with bells and plan to layer it over a wood sign in our living room, draped with a gingham ribbon or something festive. I got the above plaid pillow to add to our couch as well! It's more of a navy, white, and gold pattern. The brass floor lamp is another favorite of mine, as it has that schoolhouse / farmhouse look. You could nestle that up to a reading chair to create a cozy nook!

If you're looking for a few things to fancy up your Thanksgiving table, I fell in love with the brass Gather napkin rings!!

I'll show you a picture of my loot on Instagram today!

Did you go to Target to check out the new Hearth & Hand collection?! If so, tell me what you got!

Magnolia Market Field Trip with The Bloom Workshop

Did you guys hear about Chip & Joanna's new collection for Target?! It's called Hearth & Hand and it comes to stores and online on November 5th. I can't wait to see it!! I found these peeks of it on Target's site:

Last May we were in Texas for my sister in law's graduation from Baylor, so of course we popped into Magnolia Market for a day! I shared about our trip a few months ago, but promised even better photos from my friend Ashley who came with us and snapped a bunch of gorgeous film photos of our visit!

We're also really excited because we're heading back to Magnolia on October 12th during their Silobration event WITH our attendees of Bloom Bash Dallas! We can't wait to meet them here and explore, shop, eat cupcakes, and continue to be inspired.

Enjoy some pictures from the day:

The above is a picture Ashley took while standing on the rooftop! See, there we are below:

The bakery was amazing! I can already taste my next cupcake ;)

All the details, including flowers, plants, signage...it's all just beautiful. Joanna puts so much care into her property!

We have a few seats left at our workshop in Dallas, so we'd love to have you join us! Let me know if you have any questions :)

Magnolia Market Recap

Last week I had the chance to go back to Magnolia Market at the Silos. While in town for my sister in law's Baylor graduation, my business partner for The Bloom Workshop, Ashley, and I had a meeting with the Magnolia team to talk about a potential partnership with the brand in the future. I can't wait to be able to say more soon! For now, all I can say is you might want to sign up for our Texas workshop in October :)

Here's a few pictures from our day with my fam at the market.

Ashley and I got a private tour of the Magnolia offices and rooftop. It was SO fun and windy ;)

This was a little corner of the office upstairs. I love that Joanna puts their team mantras all around. This one, Do Good Work That Matters, was one of the favorites.

My husband caught this one while he was down in line for the bakery.

All the food trucks were so fun-- I love the Common Grounds truck for coffee and tea.

The flowers were everywhere and all were amazing! Not surprising, since Joanna makes magic happen in everything she touches.

We finally got to try a cupcake-- last year when we were here the bakery wasn't quite finished yet and so we were really excited to try a treat. The line might look intimidating, but it wasn't too bad at all. I think we waited for 10-15 minutes max. And WELL worth that time. I got the classic black cake with white frosting and it was DIVINE. Probably the best cupcake I've ever had.

The inside of the bakery was so cute, just as you'd expect!

The patina on the silos was so beautiful, so we snapped a quick photo in front of it.

This is a sneak peek of the garden center at the market. I'll share more from that area next week!

I'm so glad my husband got to come along with us this time + we had so much fun that day with my parents. Such sweet memories!

If you've made it down here, then bless you. That was a long recap! Have you been to Magnolia?! Tell me about it in the comments!
xoxo
