Memorial Day Sale Outdoor + Bedding Favorites

I cannot believe we're already a couple days out from Memorial Day! And you know what that means?! SALES! With summer days right around the corner, this is the perfect time to get some pieces for your patio, deck, or even the inside of your house for a summer refresh. I love switching out a couple things for the seasons. Usually for the summer I try to go more light and airy. I put away our gingham couch pillows in favor of a pretty, light, floral print. I also like sprucing up our bedroom linens!

I think I'm going to get those gold candlesticks for my new builtin bookshelves in our living room. I just love them! And you've got to feel the softness of this Capri beach towel



It looks like a turkish towel, but it's real beach towel material, extremely EXTREMELY soft! If you get one thing, make it this towel (or the set of two!) Kauai Open House Tour


When we were in Kauai about a month ago, my parents set up a couple tours of open houses nearby, since it's their dream to live there one day! It was raining outside, so it was a great pastime. There was a house in particular that I just LOVED so I thought I'd show it to you here. The owner had quite the eye for design. It was a sea of blue, turquoise and pops of other hues to brighten it up. Perfectly coastal and beachy, but without being cheesy!

Here's the living room:

I loved the coral prints framed around the TV. It helps distract from the TV, which is a great eye-trick!

This coffee table was incredible! I also loved this gorgeous coffee table book. I think I want it for myself one day :)

The one thing I felt was too much was the rug. I could have done with a neutral rug, myself ;)

The kitchen had been newly redone with quartz counters, marble subway backsplash, and a really cute shell chandelier over the breakfast nook.



I loved this little wall with fish plates. I'm not a fan of fish normally but this was so fun and appropriate for Hawaii!

This is the half bath. Is this not the craziest mirror you've ever seen? I found it online and linked to it below incase anyone wants to drop $3,300 on a mirror ;) Ha! I couldn't believe it. It does make a big impact!

This is the master bedroom upstairs.

The Master Bath had this pretty waterfall feature over the tub.

This was the second bedroom. It's hard to pull off complimentary color palettes (colors across the color wheel from one another, like orange and blue, green and red or yellow and purple) but this homeowner made it work!!

The bathroom off this room was sweet, too. Coastal and chic.

Not the first thing I'd want to do in Hawaii, but definitely a great rainy-day (more like tropical storm...) activity!

The Best Beach Bags

If you guys missed my first two Spring Break posts, you can catch my spring break swimsuit favorites here + my beach makeup essentials here. Today is all about beach bags. I have the stripe one down below and it is SO GREAT. It's also one of the cheapest bags I'm sharing! It has 3 consoles with a bunch of zipper pouches and I literally could fit every single thing I needed for the day in the bag on our honeymoon to Maui and last summer at the beach. It's like a Mary Poppins bag and I love that!
I got mine from Nordstrom, but it's sold out so I found my coverup romper at Walmart here  and in black here / this one is similar and super cute

I scoured the web and found some adorable beach tote options for you below. I even adore the backpack! If you're a mama, I think this might be a more practical option!

If you're looking for the best beach towel of all time, look no further than my friend's towel company, Beach Bum Towel Co. My mom has the mint towel and I have the pink / coral one. I will be packing it for Hawaii and taking up precious space in my suitcase for it, that's how much I love it. It's so big that even my 6'3" husband fits on it. Life Lately




Hi there! Long time no talk...on my end at least ;) I'm finally back to blogging after taking a week off for vacation. Although I love my little blog so much, it's really nice to take time away and focus on what matters most: family, friends, beautiful creation, good food, and building relationships. 

Last week my boyfriend and I flew to California to visit my family. I'm still here for another week or so, but he sadly had to fly back to MI for work. While he was here, my mom and I took him to one of our favorite places in all the land; Carmel. I've written about it at least a dozen times here on my blog over the years. It's the quaintest little beach town, filled with adorable shops, art galleries, a gorgeous beach with white sand, lots of places to explore, and amazing restaurants. They also have the best farmers market on Thursdays! I wrote about it here

We went to point Lobos and explored the tide pools and cool rock formations. The beauty is unreal! I couldn't help but think how good God is for giving us scenes in nature like this. We had a great time!








We also relaxed by the ocean for a while. Glorious! I could live on the beach :) We even saw dolphins! Can you see them?!

Spring Break Essentials

As you know, I'm heading to Florida with my boyfriend's family this week. I think it's the most popular destination for the Midwest's Spring Break vacations! I've never been before, because I'm from California and we have pretty great weather year round... ;) BUT these are the sorts of things I'm packing for the trip! My favorite pairs of shorts (seriously, these are the only shorts I own), easy tank tops, t-shirts, a few maxi dresses, a swim suit cover-up, sunglasses and a few bathing suits. I think I'm ready to soak up the sun!

My Favorite Guy's California Visit Recap



Happy Monday, friends! I'm back this week with a few fun things, but today I realized I never shared the pictures from when my boyfriend visited California last month. We had the best time going to San Francisco with my parents, Carmel, having my entire family over for a big Sunday dinner, and hanging out with my brother and his girlfriend. The time just flew by and I can't believe I now have to wait until May to see him again! Oh, long distance, how we don't care for you one bit. BUT we do feel confident God has placed this season in our lives for a reason, and we can definitely say we have great communication, know a ton about each other, and are so excited about when the distance will end one day.

Our first outing was San Francisco. I took him to walk across the Golden Gate. It was so fun! The next day we headed back to the city with my parents and took him to see the Giant's stadium {we're a huge baseball family, as my grandpa actually played for the Giants back in the day!} We also took pedicabs down the Embarcadero, had some mint chocolate chip ice cream at Ghirardelli {a must, duh!} and had dinner and drinks at the top of The Marriott building with one of the most stunning views of the city I've ever seen. Exploring your own city through the eyes of someone who's never been here before is really something special.

We also took him to my favorite beach town, Carmel.  Have you been?! It's so quaint and beautiful! We laid in the sand and basked in the sun, while watching Hope literally frolic around on the shore. It was SO cute!

As I mentioned above, I don't get to see my guy again until May. Yikes! If you have any fun things to do while apart, do tell :) We're always looking for new things to do together on Skype or FaceTime. Every weekend we watch a sermon together from one of our favorite pastors, we play a fun quiz game app almost every night before bed, and I just watched a basketball game at the same time as him yesterday {I know…the things you'll do for love ;) He has watched so many Romantic Comedies for me, I figured I should do something he loved!} Anyways, any advice, as always, is appreciated!
