Our Bedroom Reveal

I'm so excited to FINALLY share our bedroom reveal with you! We moved into our house exactly two years ago, so this was a long time coming. I typically suggest getting your bedroom done as one of the first items on the house project list, because it's nice to have a little retreat for yourself done and settled. However, we did things a little differently and I also had to do some husband-convincing on the bedroom (since he said "but no one ever sees it except us!" ;)) The wait was worth it because, although we didn't do a ton to it, the changes we did make (which were all purely cosmetic and furniture updates) made a big impact! Everything is linked at the bottom of the post.

First, let's look at the "before" photo of the room, which was the listing photo:

This was a king bed and it took up almost the whole room. This wide angle lens did the size some favors ;) I couldn't believe it wasn't even centered under the window-- ha!! Right when I walked in the room for the inspection (because I hadn't even stepped foot in the house until after we bought it!) I had our realtor and my husband move the bed to the other wall to see if it'd fit there (I know this is probably frowned upon, but I was freaking out and this totally helped calm my nerves that there was a better way to set up this room!) Want to see how we arranged it?!

Come on in!

We put the bed (ours is a queen to save space) to the left of the window and put a nightstand under the window to help ground the window. Hanging something above the bed also helped create balance. They are hard to see in the photo, but they are our calligraphed wedding vows framed! So special to us.

This picture helps you see the rug we ended up with. I wanted something with blues to pull out the blue undertone of the headboard and bedding. It's been great so far! You'll also notice we went with roller shades in here (black out, my favorite for sleeping!) since there wasn't enough room for curtains to stack on each side and I've really enjoyed them.

Our new nightstands are probably my favorite addition because this is our first time having matching nightstands! I thought they were so charming and they were a decent price as well. We've had our lamps for a little over a year now and they're one of my favorite things in our entire house! I love the texture and the shape.

In the little nook opposite our bed wall, I new we needed some large-scale art. I wanted it to be meaningful to us, so I was thrilled to find out my friend and talented photographer, Ashley, had taken gorgeous photos of the town where we got married during our wedding almost 5 years ago! Carmel is our favorite beach town, so it was the perfect thing to frame and wake up to each day. I got these large, white frames from Framed & Matted and it was the perfect choice, because they do custom sizing and include everything you need to hang it yourself!

Fun fact about the photos: top left is a rose bush from our wedding venue, then we have the ocean to pull in more blues, bottom left is a set of stairs with unique cement tiles (something you see a lot around Carmel by the Sea!) and then the bottom right is another shot of our wedding venue.

Also, in full disclosure, we usually have our hamper next to the bench ;) Keeping it real!

Our bedding is so gorgeous and luxurious. I think this is a great place to splurge, if you want, because we spend so much time sleeping and it's just really nice to end the day in sheets you love! This exact bedding is sold out, but this is a really similar one. This is probably the most similar lumbar pillow.

I couldn't resist throwing this in there. He's like, HELP! ;)

I kept the dresser styling functional and simple with a pretty tray for everyday jewelry and the rest goes in the woven box next to it. I found this little blue dish at a thrift store and I love it so much!
