Client Reveal: Relaxing Guest Bedroom

Happy Monday! Today I'm excited to share with you my most recently completed client project-- a simple and relaxing guest bedroom for a Bay Area, California family. Do you remember Caty's family room I showed you a few months ago?! This is their guest bedroom, and I just love how it turned out.

Here's a before picture of the bedroom:

It was a muted shade of yellow and Caty already had the bedding. She needed help picking a new wall color, gathering new pieces such as a mirror, dresser, new pillows, nightstand, lighting, and finally, pulling the room together with accessories. Here is how it turned out:

That chandelier is perfect for the room, I think. It's the perfect jewelry and sparkle for the space. The green in the euro shams matched the green in the existing bedding Caty already had to a T. It couldn't have been planned any better! The simple headboard with the nailhead trim is casual, yet put together, aiding the room in the relaxing feel we wanted the guest room to encompass. Guests always need a mirror to get ready in, and bonus points for a floor length mirror, so we delivered with this gorgeous tiled floor length mirror, doubling as a surface to help reflect light and make the room feel even brighter.  To top it off, Caty hung three photos from her and her husband's travels above the bed, which I adored. Accessories and beautiful art finished off the space that they are now excited to host guests in. In the coming months, Caty is planning to get shutters or shades for the window, which will be a great added touch.

I love nothing more than happy clients (and photos of their finished rooms!) :) If you need help with your next design venture, I am serving West Michigan with in-home design services, and beyond with my e-design services. I'd love to chat about how we can design your home!

What's your favorite part about this guest room? Enjoy your day!

The Pretty Dresser Found a Home

I'm home!  You know what that means? The dresser has a new home, too. My newly finished dresser is finally in my room and I'm lovin' it.  This all started back in March when I found this at Goodwill:

I updated by painting it white and adding fun sparkly knobs.  Much more my style! If you missed the step by step process on how I refinished it, you can find it here.

I wanted to update my room by switching out my little girl/teenage furniture with something more modern and more me, and since this is my first week back from school, I finally had the chance to do so. Don't be mad, but I was a bad blogger and totally forgot to take a picture of my old dresser that sat in my room for 8 or 10 years...but here is its matching desk set, so you can imagine what the dresser looked like.
It was big, had a laminated wood top with mirror attached, and had some floral designs on the top.  It was cute for being younger, but out it goes!

In with the newly refinished dresser:

Fresh flowers in pretty jars and vases are a must!

I lined each drawer with a coordinating paper:

A cake plate is a fun way to display my favorite flowers for my hair:

Still loving my Anthro knobs:

Hi (:

....and, end picture overload! (:
Crisp, white, chic dresser all for around $80 {including the dresser, paint and finishing products}

Have you refinished any furniture lately??

Karol's Bedroom Redo!

This past week I helped my friend Lisa's mom, Karol, redo her daughter's room.  Heather lives in So Cal for college, but she just got ENGAGED and needed a place to come home to in Nor Cal when she visits her parents. Unfortunately, we don't have any before pictures (but basically it was plain with a twin bed.  All the frames on the wall are new, or repurposed).  So I will just show you the finished product!  It turned out real cute and totally updated!

White picture frames were the perfect touch above the bed.  We spray painted some wood frames white and made our own custom gallery wall.

Desk Area.  The pictures above the desk are out of a small calender and the frames are from the dollar store! Love fun art on a budget!

Cute brown curtains tied back with silk blue bows are perfect to anchor that side of the room.

A wonderful candle stand and candle (that smells delicious) from Pier1 Imports completes the end table.

I had lots of fun with Karol working on this project! I loved all our little ideas that didn't cost us much! Hope you all enjoy it, too (:

Guest Room: mini-makeover

We've lived in our house for 10 years now.  It's a ranch, country-with-a-modern-twist, style home with exposed brick in the family room and living room, a quaint galley kitchen and the most beautiful backyard over-looking a running creek.  The master bedroom was redone by my Grandma (Designs by Belinda) a few years ago.  My room was redone by me my sophomore year in high school (and edited ever since...I can't stop!) and my brother's room was repainted by my dad a few years ago as well.  So the guest room is the last one on the list!  We've had the bedding for a while now, but I've always wanted to paint the wall the headboard is on, just to spice it up!  My Grandma said she's laid in bed at night in the guest room, just dreaming about how great a coral color would look on the walls.  Well Grandma, you're dream has come true (:

I'm a sucker for a good before and after, so here we go!

Okay.  I realize the wreath is ugly.  That's why it ain't comin back!

During:

Is taping not just the absolute worst part about painting?!

After:

Opposite side of the room.  The valence my Grandma made matches perfectly with the coral color. The vertical canvas on the wall is a painting I did with the wall color and accent colors to spice up this side of the room.

Here's the artwork we decided to go with!

We're just lovin' it.  What do you think?  Are you working on any mini renovations??

My mom and I looked at each other and asked, "Why didn't we do this sooner?"  All I can say is...finally!

I'm sharing this with Thrifty Decor Chick.

Love and Coral,
