A few years ago, I met a my friend Ashley, who I had known for years through blogging, but had yet to meet in person. Since the day we met, we quickly became the best of friends. I flew out and visited her and her new baby boy last summer in Michigan. While there, I styled/designed this apple orchard photo shoot that Ashley photographed and we then had featured on 100 Layer Cake. Did I mention she's a rockstar wedding and portrait photographer? Cause she is. Anything I know about photography has come straight from her. I pinch myself often as I'm reminded of what a talented best friend I have.
That shoot was the first time we had the chance to blend our creative talents together to create something beautiful and since then, it's been our heart's desire to find a grander way to do that. Both Ashley and I have a passion for people pursuing what they are passionate about in the creative field. In order to help spur other's on, encourage, inspire and help other's navigate this creative industry we are both apart of in different ways, we've created a hands on workshop that will do all of the above.
Want to know what Ashley and I have spent nearly the last 4 months planning, executing and praying for?! Here is our heart and soul…
Bloom will take place at the beautiful Hydrangea Blu Barn in Michigan on Friday, June 13th, 2014. We will be together from 9am-5pm and you will get a catered breakfast and an amazingly delicious lunch and dessert from our favorite caterer here in West Michigan. Here's a bit about the workshop experience and our mission as a team:
Bloom | A Creative Workshop is for creative women who want to learn about blogging, photography, interior design and styling.
Our goal is to share our knowledge on how all of the above work together, inspire and ultimately bring us joy each day. Our mission is to help fuel women’s creative passions while helping them feel confident about their small business or blog, giving them tips and tricks we’ve learned along our journey, and provide a day of networking with like-minded creatives.
For the morning coffee drinker who is obsessed with reading blogs, but has yet to click "publish" on her own blog, this is for you. For the girl who wants to take her blog to the next level and learn the ins and outs of social media, Bloom was created for you. For the photography-loving girls who want to learn how to take and edit beautiful photos, or the girls who grew up playing house and now desires to really dive into decorating her own place, for the gal who loves weddings and wants to break into the world of styling, or for the new girl in town who just wants to meet other creative and passionate friends, Bloom was created with you in mind. We promise you'll leave inspired, fueled and ready to create the life you long to live.
Appropriately named, our hope is that those who attend this workshop will do just that and BLOOM in their creative talents, hone their skills in photography, blogging and interior design & styling. Ashley and I will both teach on blogging and aspects of blogging as a business, Ashley will teach on photography, and I will teach on interior design and styling. I will then have a styled shoot, much like this apple orchard photo shoot I designed, set up outside the barn venue for all the guest's to practice styling and photographing. This is a great way to put into practice what you've just learned in the workshop. We will help show you how to style and take beautiful shots for your portfolio, clients and blogs. Ashley will also be taking each guest's headshot for them to use on their website, blog, etc. We hope this hands-on experience will be extremely valuable to each guest! And bonus? You get to come make like-minded friends and meet us. And we really like people. Especially creative people. So, let's have a bunch of fun together on June 13th, okay?! :)
We are so thrilled to announce the launch of our WORKSHOP WEBSITE today, complete with all the details and our amazing sponsors {seriously, the goodie bags that guest's will leave with are off the hook!! Yep, I really just said that. But they are valued at $450…so if that's not incentive enough to come, I'm not sure what is! ;) }
Registration will be opening in ONE week exactly and the early bird special is $300, so look over your budgets, chat with your spouse or family and seriously consider if this workshop would be a great fit for you. Because at the end of the day, that is what it is all about: it's for you to bloom and be inspired! You can like Bloom on Facebook to get updates and be the first to know when registration is open. Spots will be limited so we can be sure to give the attendee's our best attention. Feel free to share this workshop with your friends, family and anyone you think would benefit from it.
So, who do we get to meet in June?! I'm bursting at the seams here, friends!
Happy day!
