Favorite Spring & Summer Beauty Products + Big Sale!

Happy Tuesday, friends! Today's a fun day because my favorite clean beauty brand, Beautycounter, is having 15% off side wide! This only happens about 2 times a year, so it's a great time to take advantage and try new products or replenish those that are running out. I've been with the company for a year and half now and I'm so grateful to be a part of the team + mission! If you've never tried anything from Beautycounter or haven't heard of us before, here's a couple things you need to know:

- Our mission is to get safer products into the hands of everyone. We do this through screening every ingredient for even traces of harmful chemicals, banning over 1500 ingredients that are known to be harmful, cancer-causing, etc. (the US only has 30 banned!) and putting them on our Never List, choosing the best organic, natural, sustainable, and synthetic ingredients that meet Beautycounter's high standards (over 80% of the ingredients in our products are natural or plant-derived), and conducting our own studies to gather more data and information about safer alternatives.

- We are a certified B Corporation! Don't know what this is?! (I didn't either, don't worry!) "The B stands for Benefit, and it means that, unlike the traditional corporate structure, we consider people, the planet, and profits equally. We use the power of business to help solve social and environmental problems by voluntarily meeting rigorous standards of transparency, accountability, and performance." (Beautycounter's 2018 social & environmental report). I love that I'm part of a company like this!

- We try to make a difference. Did you know that it's been over 80 years since a new law concerning ingredients in personal care products has been passed?! That's why the US is so behind Canada and the UK in regards to what ingredients are banned from our products. Beautycounter reps are trying to make waves by going to congress with our desire to change the laws regarding what's allowed in our personal care products. Emphasis on the word "personal", because it IS personal. We're using on average 7-14 products a day on our skin and just trusting they are safe for us, because why would the FDA allow unsafe ingredients in our products?! By being a part of this company I am trying to raise awareness about this industry and hope to be a very tiny part of things changing in the near future.

If you'd like to read my WHY behind being a part of this company, you can read more here. In short, I want to live as responsibly and clean as I can. We are careful about what we eat and put IN our bodies, so why wouldn't we want to be careful about what we put ON our bodies, too? I want to do what I can, without living in fear or getting crazy or at all judgmental of others who don't choose this lifestyle. I will be honest, I'm just doing my best. Not everything I use from beginning to end of my day is perfectly safe, but we are trying to implement better options in our home and on our bodies! I've even got my husband using a couple of our products ;) #progress

If you want to learn how or what to switch over to safer products, this blog post does a great job at explaining that! Basically, I'd switch out as you run out so you're not blowing your budget. And things that stay on your skin all day or all night is what I'd focus on switching out first.

All of that to say, I'm proud to be a part of Beautycounter, a company that provides jobs for many people AND provides cleaner, safer skin care and makeup options for women, men, and kids across the world.

To celebrate our sale today, I'm sharing a couple of my favorite products with you that I would call must-haves. Then below I'm giving you a bunch of my go-to products for the warmer months of the year, which I'm thrilled are right around the corner if they aren't here yet!

Skin Care:
countermatch adaptive moisture lotion: I don't think I could ever use another day moisturizer after using this one. The bio-mimic technology in it knows if your skin needs more or less hydration so you're not dry or too oily.

resurfacing peel: try this and you'll see results overnight. With 15 botanically derived acids, it clears away dead skin cells, replaces with new cells, smooths, lessens fine lines, even helps blemishes clear up, and gives you that glow.

brightening oil: my skin was always SO dry in the winter, but not this year! I used a drop on my skin after cleansing and before moisturizer morning and night and I never peeled or got ashy this winter. The vitamin C in this facial oil is so healing (so don't be afraid to use it if you have acne), and you'll notice it brightening, smoothing and if you mix a drop in your moisturizer, it'll give you that dewy look.

rejuvenating eye cream: made with protective jambu extract and skin-conditioning wild algae and caffeine, it diminishes the appearance of fine lines and reduces puffiness. Yes please!

countercontrol pore cleanser: this is from our oily skin / acne prone line and I'll be honest, I'm 28 and still not immune to break outs. I struggled big time with acne in high school, too. This pore cleanser not only smells great (like grapefruit!) but it totally works. I use it EVERY morning to wash my face. It takes away the bad oil and diminishes any blemishes so quickly.

charcoal bar: I know, some of you are probably super opposed to bar soap. This ain't your regular bar of soap though. Made with purifying Japanese binchotan charcoal, antioxidant-rich organic green tea, and hydrating organic coconut oil, the gentle formula can be used daily on your face and body. I use EVERY night and am never dry from it. I feel like this has been a huge game changer in my skincare routine! My skin actually feels so clean now after I wash it with this. I've noticed my pores are smaller around my nose and my overall skin tone is much more clear.

Make Up:
tint skin hydrating foundation (I use linen): I used to think since I had oilier skin, I couldn't use liquid foundation. I reluctantly tried Beautycounter's foundation and it didn't take long to become a convert. Here's what I love about it:  it contains sodium hyaluronate, a natural moisture magnet, to promote smoother-looking skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, so it's actually doing GOOD things for your skin while it's on!! It's buildable also, but I only use about a dime size and apply with a foundation brush.

color intense lipstick (first date): I reach for this color the most out of the colors I have, so it definitely made the list. It's a fun pink, but not too bright. This lipstick is the most similar to traditional lipsticks and usually lasts a couple hours. It has a nice refreshing peppermint scent to it.

dew skin tinted moisturizer: this is perfect for you if you like to wear minimal makeup but do want to protect your skin from the sun! It has spf 20 in it and also includes black currant, peony flower root extract, and vitamin C to enhance skin brightness and sodium hyaluronate to promote firmer, smoother-looking skin. Again, working FOR you while you're wearing it.

lip sheer (rose): I love this rose color. It actually goes really well with reds without being too in-your-face. It has a subtle vanilla scent and is super moisturizing! I know the Twig color also has a cult following ;)

+ lip conditioner: how could I survive without thee?! But really, this is my saving grace in the dry months especially. I apply every morning and night.

brow pencil (I use medium): I'm all in for defined brows (shout out to my girl Janelle who keeps my brows in check every 8 weeks). This brow pencil helps me fill them in when they need a little love.

eye shadow palette: I don't have this exact one (I was gifted this larger one), but this is all I'd really need, considering I don't wear eye shadow other than special occasions. I love all these colors!
