October Goals 2019

Wow, it's October already!! Sharing my goals for the month below, after recapping how I did last month (spoiler alert: I didn't do as well as I'd hoped ha!)

- It's our Anniversary month! September 18th will mark 3 years of marriage for us, which is so surreal to me! I want to focus on being more selfless and serving my husband more-- this month especially. We want to do something fun and special around our anniversary. We haven't planned it yet (and it won't be anything crazy, probably dinner and an activity of some sort) but we're excited! Really working on this! And we went to a new rooftop restaurant on our anniversary, planned by my husband. So special! We also took a croissant making class at our local Sur la Table and it was such a cool thing to do. I can't wait to make the rest of our dough we got to take home!

- With our anniversary, I think we'll do a Q&A on instagram stories. Let me know if you have any questions for us! Well, I gathered questions but we haven't had time to answer them yet ;) Coming soon!

- A huge goal this month is to get our backyard ready for our landscaper to seed it the last week of September. I cannot WAIT! Finally we'll have a backyard...right in time for winter and snow ;) ha! You guys all let me know Fall was the best time to plant seed and the landscaper agreed, so that's what we're doing. It's SEEDED! Now we wait. We got tons of rain last weekend so I'm a little nervous about it!

- After the yard is graded and seeded, my husband needs to finish the last wall of fence, then it'll be complete! Not quite done yet. Hoping to start the last wall of fence this weekend.

- I've had a goal of blogging about our moving and adjusting to our new house process for months, so this month it's on the calendar! Ah, I had to bump this to October. September was a crazy month!

- Another business related goal is to sell out of our Bloom Bash Dallas workshop tickets. We're almost there! I can't wait for our workshop in Texas in November. We've been to this venue before and it's my favorite of all time. I'm thrilled we're going back and can't wait to meet everyone! We have 3 tickets left! Almost there.

- Go to my favorite Farmer's Market and get the big, beautiful dahlias! September is their season. I went with a friend and it was so fun. The prettiest dahlias ever! Also snagged the best blueberry donuts in all the land.

- I'm hosting a Beautycounter pop up on the 13th this month and so my goal here to order the samples I need for the party and then make it a really fun night for the ladies coming. If you're local and want to join, let me know! It'll be in Rockford, MI. It was so fun!

- I need to get back into my routine of doing a workout video every day. I take the dog on long walks, so I'm getting that in, but without a gym I want to be more dedicated to using my weights and working other muscles! We're planning to join a gym this winter which I'm super excited about. Okay, I totally failed at this. I can't wait to join the gym in November! ;)

- If you know me you know that while I do love fall, it also scares me because it means winter is soon around the corner. Ah!! I can't even fathom that, haha! I don't decorate or do anything fall-like until the last week of September, but then my goal is to decorate my front porch (I always do that first) and get a new door mat. Getting pumpkins this week with a friend, so I can basically check this off ;)

- Have my husband's grandparents over for dinner to our house. I already know what I want to make. This recipe is SO good! This was such a fun night. We played cards and everyone enjoyed the meal!

- Get a new fall jacket. I've had the same one for years and it's too short in the arms now. I'm thinking something like thisthis or this. If you see any cute fall jackets, send them my way!! I settled on this one and I'm SO happy with it! It was on sale on Monday when I wrote the post, so check it out! I'll be back this week with a full outfit post.

- Finish our fence, keep watering our new grass seed and get a couple plants in before the first frost. Which literally could be any day... haha! #puremichigan

- Answer your questions you submitted for us on our anniversary on Instagram stories.

- Deck out our porch for fall, including hanging our fall wreath.

- Put up our simple fall decor in the house and then share it on the blog!

- Host my best friend and her daughter when they come this weekend! Can't wait to see them and spend time with them after a couple of years of not seeing her. I haven't seen her since our wedding 3 years ago!

- Get all our details ironed out for the upcoming Bloom Bash Dallas workshop.

- Get my hair done before I leave for Dallas on November 3rd. I need highlights- bad ;)

- Share blog posts on our moving experience (moving this from September!), a client kitchen renovation, our backyard progress, fall decorating, and flowers for fall.

- We're heading up North to Traverse City with some friends from church for a weekend getaway. Can't wait to spend time with our people and go wine tasting!

- Finish reading The Road Back to You (an Enneagram book I'm loving).

- Schedule a Beautycounter pop up with our holiday collection. Holiday this year is epic!!

- Make our holiday travel plans to California! Hooray!

- Have apps on the rooftop bar downtown one more time before winter to watch the sunset.

- Go to the beach one last time. McCann's grandparents live there and they fly back to FL for the winter, so we try to visit again to say goodbye until Spring.

- Show you some progress of a client remodel on the blog. It's almost done and it's SO good!

That's all I can think of for now. What's on your to-do for October?
xoxo

September 2019 Goals

I hope you all had a really wonderful Labor Day weekend! My mom and grandma were here this weekend visiting because my grandma's sister who lives in Detroit passed away (she was 94) last week and they came for the funeral. It was a really beautiful service and I'm glad they were able to come for it and spend a couple extra days with us.

Well, somehow it's September! I am going to get back into sharing my goals here on the blog with you each month (hopefully).

- It's our Anniversary month! September 18th will mark 3 years of marriage for us, which is so surreal to me! May 2019 Goals

It's the second week of May and it just feels like days are flying by. I can't keep up! Since we're busy getting our house ready, most of these goals are house-related. Surprise, surprise!

In case you don't follow along on Instagram, here's our Easter picture :)

- Move into our house! The first step to this goal is getting packed up in the next week so we can actually do the moving part ;)

- Get our bathroom renovation complete (excluding doing the floors) before we move in.

- Start building our backyard fence & create a game plan for the backyard landscaping. It's going to be really simple-- deck, grass, rock path, some plants with wood chips over the flower bed areas. We're doing it all ourselves-- wish us luck!!

- Till up the front flower beds so we can prep for some new plants going in there.

- Attend McCann's cousin's wedding across the state.

- Get all the details together for my best friend's baby shower!! It's a girl (hooray!) and we have so many fun things planned for it. I'll be sharing the inspiration soon. If you have any great shower ideas or things you loved about your own shower, please tell me!

- Finalize details for our July Bloom Workshop here in Michigan. I can't wait for this one!!

- See my grandma and aunt who will be visiting this month!

- Take Lincoln on a walk around the nearby lake.

- Change out my winter clothes for my summer wardrobe. It's a hassle, but it also makes me feel like I got all new clothes, ha!

- Celebrate Mother's Day! My mom will be in Hawaii (that's a pretty nice Mother's Day trip...but why weren't we invited, dad?! ;)) but I got her a pretty cute gift I'll be giving her when she visits in June.

- Go on a date night. This season of renovating a house has been a little tough. Usually my husband goes and works on the house every night, so we haven't been eating dinner together much. I love eating dinner together, so this stinks! Hopefully we'll have time for a date night this month :)

- Order some products I need for summer. I'm grabbing this bronzer, tinted moisturizer with spf 20, this face oil, and this resurfacing peel (I happen to be out of the last two at the same time).

- Moving is not fun. Let's just be honest. And for me, moving is really hard because I'm so sentimental. My goal during this move is to not get stressed out, remember it's all a process and nothing needs to happen overnight. Trust God with the details and know it'll all come together. I also really want to focus on this not just being OUR home, but a place where we welcome people in frequently.

What are some of your goals this month?!

November Goals + Thankful List 2

This time of year can feel so rushed and crazy, so I want to be intentional in sharing my goals this month, even if it felt like I didn't have time! At the end of today's post is also this week's Thursday Thankful List.

First, a look back at my October goals...
- My mom is coming next week to visit and I couldn't be more excited. We're going to Northern Michigan to experience (hopefully) the color changing and go wine tasting. We're also having a spa day, going shopping, and going to eat at some favorite restaurants! This was such a sweet visit. You can see the recap HERE.

- Cook / bake something fall-inspired. Maybe chili and cornbread, peach or apple cobbler, etc... I kindaaa cheated and picked up a bread mix at Williams Sonoma. It was the pecan maple one and it was divine. Not even mad about it.
- Go to the Keith Urban concert! We're so excited about this, as it's our anniversary present to each other. I'm a total country fan and my husband is just being very kind to me ;) This was SO fun!! One of my favorite date nights ever with my husband. Keith Urban was incredible and so was Kelsea Ballerini!
- Get my parade house photographed and show you soon on the blog. Got it photographed! We got so many pieces of great feedback on the house for the Parade of Homes here in Grand Rapids. I'm so thankful. Hopefully I'll start showing it in January on the blog.
- Go on a retreat with the other youth group leaders at our church. This is always one of the most fun weekends for us! This was such a fun weekend. When I moved to Michigan almost 5 years ago, I knew nobody except my boyfriend and best friend (who lives an hour away), so it was imperative I make some friends. Not only did we want to make friends at our church, but we also had a heart for the young people, so working in the youth group has been a double blessing because we get to do that and this is where all our best friends are from!
- Start with a couple of new clients. Can't wait to dive into more projects with some new families. (PS. I'm booked until mid-November, but am taking clients on after that!) Yes! Met two new families this month and I'm already so excited about their designs.
- Share the Beautycounter Holiday collection with you soon! It's SO good, girls! So many fun gift options. Didn't do this yet, but I think October was too early for Holiday. It's November now, so anything goes ;)
- Attend a workshop about how to keep our immune system healthy next weekend. I'm excited to learn, but also excited to have my Beautycounter table set up for people to learn about safer beauty! Check!
- Visit the apple orchard where we met and got engaged. Also goal: eat all the donuts there. I did this with my mom when she was here. And yes, we got the donuts. My husband and I haven't gone yet just the two of us. Hopefully we'll get to that before Thanksgiving.
- Be intentional about spending time investing in our marriage! We did this by getting Date Box and it was so fun! More on this soon.
- Go to the dog park as often as we can before the snow hits. Another goal: don't cry when the snow hits ;) We did it as much as we could! Keeping the second part of the goal through the whole winter, ha.

- Share my fall decorations with you both inside and outside and give some tips on how I decorated with what I have. Our fall porch is coming tomorrow! Done! You can see our porch here and interior decor here. My post on decorating with what you have is here.
- Host a Beautycounter party at a client's house. I can actually check this off already because it happened on November 2nd :) it was so fun! Everyone loved seeing our products and we even had a friend of mine there to do eyebrow tints and waxes.
- Watch a couple Hallmark movies. Not sure why, but they're just so sweet and heartwarming to me! No judgement ;) This goal shouldn't be hard to complete, considering I've already watched a few.
- Make a dish for Thanksgiving! Usually I bring the mashed potatoes since my husband's family loves how I make them (the secret is finely chopped rosemary).
- I can't wait to try a recipe from Reese Witherspoon's new book. I think I'm going to try her pecan parm crusted chicken this week. I'm also trying the chicken spaghetti from Joanna's Magnolia Table.
- Get our Christmas decor out and decorate the week before Thanksgiving so we can enjoy it a little longer! (The tree will come the weekend after, see below)
- Go get a tree the weekend after Thanksgiving! My husband wants to go chop one down this year. We'll see what happens...but our tradition is to go get a Starbucks before we get our tree, so that'll stay the same.
- I know this is so crazy, but I always love going to one or two stores on Black Friday. I feel like the craziness just gets me in the holiday spirit haha!! I know so many people are shaking their heads right now.
- Get a couple gift guides out this month to help you all (and myself!) with Christmas shopping! And honestly, I'd love to get a couple gifts checked off my list!
- Our small group wants to find something to do to help the community or a family in need. We're brainstorming ideas and will hopefully choose something by next week. I'm really excited about doing this together.
- Plan my holiday parties out for the season. I know I want to have my girlfriends and my neighbors over this year!
- Follow this little reading plan I made for my husband and I. 1 verse a day, each day of November. Each verse has to do with giving rightful praise to God or inspiring thanksgiving towards Him because of his faithfulness. We are also writing down a couple things each day that we're thankful for. Join us if you'd like!
Share your goals with me in the comments!
Now onto my weekly thankful challenge. Each Thursday of November I'm sharing a bunch of sweet things I'm grateful for.
- The way my husband comes in and kisses me goodbye before he leaves every morning.
- Seasonal candles. The other day I sat and read my new Reese Witherspoon book with a Magnolia fall candle burning...little piece of heaven :)
- The beauty of creation proclaiming God's faithfulness
- My parents, who see needs in their children's lives and seek to fill them.
- Fresh roses by my desk, deep purple in color and lasting over a week.
- Lipstick. Yes, I'm thankful for lipstick because it's fun and makes me feel put together and feminine :)
- Date nights and good food. Good food is such a wonderful common grace.
- Birthday surprises and girlfriends who love celebrating.
- Real and raw conversations with friends. Friends who feel like sisters and who you know care, in the depth of their souls.

Share what you're thankful for below, friends!
Happy Thursday,
xoxo

October 2018 Goals

October is here and I can hardly believe it. We had 90 degree temps two weeks ago and now we're in the 50's! Oh, how things change. I'm here with my October goals today, but first, looking back at how I did in September...

a snippet of our fall decor shared on instagram

- Celebrate our anniversary together! We went to a yummy dinner and had the best night reminiscing!

- Watch our wedding ceremony video and our speeches on our wedding anniversary. Also, dance to our first dance song. This is a tradition we started last year and I'm so excited to continue doing this forever!

- On the topic of marriage, one of my goals this month is to not be so naggy. I know it's a habit I fall into easily because I like to be in control, but I don't want to be this type of wife! ALWAYS a work in progress!

- In conjunction with our anniversary, I'd love to write a post about marriage so far, what we've learned, etc. If you have any questions, let me know and I can answer them in the post! You can read that post HERE.

- I am currently getting a client's home ready for the Parade of Homes, which starts October 5th here in Grand Rapids. I'm loving how it's coming out and can't wait to show you everything soon! Countless hours go into making it beautiful for my sweet clients, but also getting it tour-ready for all the other hundreds of people who will be coming to see it. Parade starts this Friday, so I've spent lots of time in the past two weeks running around getting things ready for it!

- Go have dinner and see the sunset at the beach with McCann's grandparents. They are only here in the summer and fall months, so we want to see them once more before they move back to Florida for the winter (which speaking of, can I come?! ha!) We didn't make it for a sunset, but DID go for a beach day and apps!

- Use our hot tub a couple more times before it closes on October 1st. Always sad about this! Hooray for the hot tub closing October 15th this year...yay!

- Guys, for the last couple of weeks I've actually been going to the gym a couple times a week and doing weights, then running. I know, it's crazy! I'm trying to start a good habit of this before winter comes and I literally don't want to move out of my cozy little home. Can I be honest, though? I hate running. I feel terrible after I do it, and I can't even run for long periods of time. I run for 3-4 minutes, then increase the incline and fast walk, then put the incline back down to run for another 3 minutes, etc. That's all I can do so far, so I'm trying not to give myself a hard time about it. But it is frustrating that I feel like death and other people say they feel amazing after a run. Maybe I will never be those people haha ;) *Goal here is to CONTINUE doing this! I've been averaging 1x per week the pas 2-3 weeks, but that's better than nothing!!

- Begin getting our speakers lined up for 2019's Bloom Workshop schedule. We're hoping to launch the schedule on Black Friday! Getting lots of details for this together!!

- I'd love to get some things cleaned and organized before October hits. Our garage needs to be cleaned out, I'd like to clean the windows since they're a mess from the storms we've had a couple weeks ago, and I always love cleaning my closet out before a new season. Speaking of that, I do have a couple things for sale here that I just added! CHECK!

- Decorate for Fall no sooner than the last week of September. I'm just really trying to savor this last official month of summer. I can't even fathom it getting cold again :( Send help. I savored summer as much as I possibly could! It's full-blown fall over here.

- Get our holiday plans with my family tentatively laid out so we can start looking at flights. This year we're spending Christmas here in Michigan, but will still go to California to see my fam at some point around the holidays. I hate leaving this to the last minute! We didn't get this solidified yet, but are closer to booking flights.

- Start my new book None Like Him. I just finished In His Image by Jen Wilkin and I loved it so much. It was so helpful to me to learn even more about God's character and how I can be an image bearer in order to live our God's will for my life. Highly recommend!! I'm loving this book so far. The biggest take away so far: the Bible is about Jesus, not me. Learning about his character has been transformative.

- My mom is coming next week to visit and I couldn't be more excited. We're going to Northern Michigan to experience (hopefully) the color changing and go wine tasting. We're also having a spa day, going shopping, and going to eat at some favorite restaurants!

- Cook / bake something fall-inspired. Maybe chili and cornbread, peach or apple cobbler, etc...

September 2018 Goals

First of all, I have not done a goals post for quite some time. I intentionally took the summer months off writing these, so I could spend more time enjoying the glorious (and sometimes very humid!) weather. Second, THIS was last year's September goals. The picture of Lincoln is killing me...he was so little!!

Since I don't have any goals to look back on from last month, I'm just going to dive into September's goals! This is a fun month for us, as it's our wedding anniversary month. Hooray!

- Celebrate our anniversary together! I can't believe it's been almost 2 years since our wedding...how time flies. We're going to go to dinner on our anniversary (where I'm not sure-- I think my husband is surprising me!) Our anniversary gift to each other is going to the Keith Urban concert in October, which my husband also surprised me with, but couldn't wait until our anniversary to tell me ;) Gotta love it!! I cannot wait.

- Watch our wedding ceremony video and our speeches on our wedding anniversary. Also, dance to our first dance song. This is a tradition we started last year and I'm so excited to continue doing this forever!

Summer 2018 Bucket List

Last week before I left for California, my husband and I were dreaming up our Summer Bucket List. Since I didn't share my monthly goals this month (oops!) I thought I'd let you in on what we're hoping to do in these precious and fleeting warm months ;)

Photo from our engagement session
1. Go to the beach multiple times! (This will happen for the first time on the 4th, weather permitting;))
2. Watch the sunset at the beach
3. Get ice cream at our favorite place and eat it on the small lake nearby
4. Eat outside at Roses
5. Take Lincoln to the dog park beach (which he'll hate because he doesn't like water ha!)
6. Go to Pictured Rocks up North
7. Have friends over to grill and go in the hot tub
8. Hit a bucket of balls at the range with my husband
9. Make peach cobbler (or any type of berry summer dessert!)
10. Go mini golfing
11. Read a book for fun (any suggestions?! We're reading Recovering Redemption by Matt Chandler for our small group at church and it's very good!)
12. Have brunch on Rockwell's patio after church
13. Go to the Farmer's Market (if you're local, the one in Holland has the best Blueberry donuts ever!)
14. Make zucchini bread with fresh zucchini from my friend's garden
15. Play cards on our balcony
16. Have a bonfire and make s'mores!
17. Go on a boat
18. Watch the sunrise (this would be very hard for me...not a morning person. But I know it would be worth it!)
19. Drive to the lookout of the city and see the skyline at night
20. Find a really great marinade recipe to grill with

That's all we could think of! What's on your Summer Bucket List?

May Goals 2018

Well, usually I write goal posts at the beginning of a month but I couldn't get around to it this month, so here we are halfway through May and I've got my goals ready...ha!! I'd love to hear a couple of yours as well.

via Instagram

Continue spring cleaning! This month I want to tackle the entry closet (more on that tomorrow), the pantry and the laundry room. Maybe the windows, too! All we have left to do is the windows! Feels so good to be a bit more organized. We took a huge load to Goodwill a couple weekends ago.

- Take dinner to one of our friends who just had a sweet baby boy. I'm bringing my favorite Flank Steak Tacos in the crockpot. I'll share this recipe soon in an upcoming Meal Planning post. I got them this as their baby gift!  They were delicious and the gift was a hit!

- Soak up time with my parents during our Hawaii trip! We leave on Monday! So ready for warmth. The weather forecast isn't actually all that great. Kauai is one of the rainiest places on earth, so we're praying it lets up a little to enjoy the beach, hikes, and some surfing for my husband and dad. You can catch our recap of the trip here and here. Boy, did it rain!!

- Even though Lent is over, I still want to practice my word of "enough". Would you be interested in a post talking about a few things I learned as I gave up shopping for 40 days? Ugh, friends! Still need to do this. Moving it down to this month's goals!

- Get all the details set for our upcoming workshop, Bloom Bash Nashville. This is for creative business owners (or hopefuls!) who want to learn how to grow and sustain a thriving business by diving into how and why to blog and use social media for your business, photography, design / styling, floral arranging, watercolor calligraphy, styled shoots and more. It's such a fun two days! Tickets close Friday. I can't wait to experience Nashville! Absolutely LOVED Nashville! I can't wait to share the recap with you.

- Send out my monthly Safer Beauty newsletter. I love compiling this information to share with my readers! If you want more info on safe and non-toxic beauty, I'd love to get it in your hands once a month. You can sign up here. This newsletter is going out THIS WEEK because I just couldn't get it together last month ;)

- Finish decorating one of my client's houses that's in the Parade of Homes in May. Excited to finally share this with you soon. This is SO close to being done! The Parade starts May 25th.

- My husband recently got a new job that we're so thankful for and I want to go over there and get a tour of the new building and have lunch with him this month. Also moving this down to this month. Ha! Clearly, April was busy ;)

- Make a homemade dessert. Yum! Taking suggestions :) Yeah....nope, didn't happen. But my husband did make us milkshakes and they were amazing!! Does this count?! Ha. Also, we ate WELL in Nashville so I feel like this made up for it.

Well, I kinda stunk at my goals last month, huh?! It's okay, though. New month, even though we're halfway through it already! I can't keep up these days (so many fun and new design projects!). Because of this, I'm keeping it simple this month:

- Write about my Lent experience.

- Send out my Safer Beauty Tribe Newsletter this week.

- Go have lunch with my husband at his new office.

- Have a fun Memorial Day Weekend up North with friends!

- Take Lincoln on a couple of walks around the lake nearby to get better at leash walking.

- Really try to honor my business hours and stop working when my husband gets home.

- Watch less TV and do more activities in the evenings! We just played cards last night and it was so fun. We also have a study guide associated with the sermon series going on at our church right now, so we want to go through that together.

- Work out twice a week (whether this be a video in our apartment or walking around the lake or going to the gym)

That's it! What's on your list?!

April 2018 Goals

It's April, which means another round of monthly goals! First, checking in with my March Goals. This keeps me accountable :)

- Go on a girl's retreat with some friends from church this weekend. So excited! YES! This was so refreshing and fun. I love my besties.

- Get Lincoln's barking when he sees another dog walk by our windows to goooo away! We have a vibrating bark collar we just got. Any tips welcome ;) OKAY, so vibrating collar didn't work at all, but this citronella bark collar worked like a charm. He's been wearing it for a week and he barely barks now. Basically, it automatically puffs out a small spray of citronella when there is the barking vibration and it scares him. He hates it, so he doesn't do it! I'm so glad!

- Host our La Petite Bloom workshop here in Grand Rapids well! So looking forward to spending a day with other Creatives, learning about floral arranging and how to watercolor on cookies/fondant! This was just so fun! Learning to paint cookies and play with flowers was just what I needed. Loved meeting all of our attendees, too.

- Write a few interior design specific posts with hard-hitting content, like how I select paint colors/my favorite paint colors, and color psychology. Those are just a few I get asked about often. If you have any topics you want to be covered, leave me a comment! I wrote one about paint colors here. Need to get a few more in the works :)

- Get my lake house client project photographed with furniture in it and everything styled! I was there yesterday and it's so beautiful. I can't wait to share everything finished. We got this photographed last week and it looks stunning.

- Start getting my summer clothes out of boxes and get them laid out to prep for our trip to Hawaii in April. I don't want to rush doing this at the last second! I hate being stressed before a trip. DONE!

- Related to the last one, I want to take a good hard look at my winter closet and ask myself what I never wore. I realized I have so many clothes, but always gravitate towards the same handful of items. Definitely picking favorites ;) So I want to get rid of the ones that I don't gravitate to as often.  Did this, too! I sold a few of the good pieces on Instagram.

- Start our Spring Cleaning routine! There are a few places I like to organize and purge each year:
*Garage
* Entry Closet
* Bathroom Drawers
* Bedroom Closet (mentioned above)
*Laundry Room / Kitchen Cabinets

I'd like to get started on this with one project every weekend, so that come April, we aren't doing everything on the list in one weekend.

- Continue trying new recipes. I want to use our George Foreman Grill more this month, so those are some recipes I'm going to look for. I kinda forgot we had one (we got it as a present from our wedding!) OOPS. I forgot about this since we were so busy. I need to remember this! We also just got a new contraption to cook meat in called Joule. I'll let you know how it goes.

- As always on my list, I want to be more active. I'm really focusing on toning my legs and abs. I've found the Tone it Up girls to be a great resource for exercise routines! I've been doing these workouts like 2-3 times per week.

- Put some spring decorations out (that I already have, of course, because of Lent.) You can see them here.

- Lastly, I feel like we've been slacking on our no phones in bed rule, so I want to be more firm about that. Tried hard to do this, but I need to be even more intentional, so I'm starting this challenge with Well Watered Women that is called Word before World, where I'm not going to go on my phone before I read my bible. I'm excited about it.

- Continue spring cleaning! This month I want to tackle the entry closet (more on that tomorrow), the pantry and the laundry room. Maybe the windows, too!

- Take dinner to one of our friends who just had a sweet baby boy. I'm bringing my favorite Flank Steak Tacos in the crockpot. I'll share this recipe soon in an upcoming Meal Planning post. I got them this as their baby gift!

- Even though Lent is over, I still want to practice my word of "enough". Would you be interested in a post talking about a few things I learned as I gave up shopping for 40 days?

March Goals

Each month when I'm writing a Goal post, I'm seriously baffled that another month has gone by. Isn't time a strange thing? This has felt like the longest winter, but the months are also flying by! Before we get into this month's goals (and I know, we're already 7 days into the month!) I'm taking a look at last month's goals...

- Take our Valentine’s Day cooking class together! After the class, we get to enjoy a romantic dinner together! This was one of my Christmas presents to McCann. We did this! It wasn't as great as I thought it was going to be, but we had some good laughs ;)

- Write a post about grief and how we’ve gotten through the death of my husband’s dad. I often get asked about this topic, so a post is in the works, written by both of us and sharing our hearts. You can read this here.

- Stick to our budget and remember that saving now will mean we can have freedom later to do big things like buying a house, take a trip, be really generous to strangers and friends, save for our future kids. Working with a financial advisor the last year has been really eye-opening! I'm a bit of a spender, so this has actually been challenging for me. I'm planning to write about this more soon too. Yes!! Doing great at this, probably because I gave up shopping for Lent ;)

- Continue meal planning. This has been going so well for the last few weeks! Makes grocery shopping so much easier and less stressful. And I only grocery shop once a week! Always looking for more meals to try (a new year’s goal was to do one new one per week!) so send them over! Not to toot my own horn, but I'm rocking this (and staying under budget) and heck, I'm kind of enjoying it! Should I share our meal planning soon?

- Finish sourcing items for 2 new construction design clients of mine. One home that I shared a few days ago on the blog will actually be in our Michigan parade of homes in May, so I’m working on finding pieces that will look beautiful in there and show well! Excited to be filling it with Chelsea Michal Art and Arianna Belle pillows. This is coming together! One whole house is done, now onto the next.

- Really make sure to be active and go to the gym! Now I have a real motivation coming up for us in April, which I’ll share about soon! I've been going 1x for the past few weeks, but I need to up it to 2xs!  I've been averaging 1x / week...ugh! Oops ;) Moving this goal down to March!

-Finish my current book so I can start a new one. I’m ordering The Lifegiving Home soon, which has been on my list for almost a year! Finished my book! Onto the next...

- Continue being diligent in my study of the book of Judges in the Bible. I’ve actually never read this book of the Bible, but I found a bible study podcast on it by a new favorite, Jen Wilkin, and it’s been really great. What an interesting book, I’ll tell ya! DONE! Just finished it this week and so glad I did the study with Jen's podcast.

- Have a wine and Skype night with my parents! We did this while they were up in Tahoe visiting my grandparents! It was fun :)

- Take Lincoln on more walks. I feel so bad, it’s so dang cold so he really doesn’t get as many walks as he should! We did take him to the dog park last weekend when it was sunny and he loved it. I've been trying to do this anytime it's not unbearably cold.

- Make a special Valentine’s Day breakfast for us the weekend before Valentine’s Day! I'll be sure to share it here with you.  IT WAS SO YUMMY! Find the recipe here.

- Put up one piece of Valentine's Day decor in our home. Not sure what this will be, but I might try to make a little heart garland or something. We'll see! (Do flowers count?! Ha!) I can't believe I actually completed this here!

- Go on a girl's retreat with some friends from church this weekend. So excited!

- Get Lincoln's barking when he sees another dog walk by our windows to goooo away! We have a vibrating bark collar we just got. Any tips welcome ;)
