Most girls I know love a nice handbag. I love mine so much I've replaced my backpack entirely with my purse. {Actually I haven't carried a backpack since freshman year of high school!} My Coach bag was found at the Carmel outlets for more than 1/2 off! Score. I've used it for the past year and a half. Double score!
Things I look for in a bag:
Durability- it has to endure lots of stuff!
Colors- want to make sure it goes with lots of clothes!
Size- large enough for my purse "essentials" & school books.
Compartments- enough separate spots to hold all my goodies
My current bag is metallic gold {goes with everything, let me tell you!} with lavender lining. Surprised? Didn't think so (;
So, what do I carry in my purse at any given time?
1. Emergency Snack: I have to eat about every 2 hours or I get really light-headed. This week's choice are the Trader Joe's peanut butter filled pretzels. Perfect for a hungry girl in a pinch!
2. Small Coach Wallet
3. Lipstick or Gloss of choice & Chapstick
4. Pop-Top Water Bottle: You drink more if you drink out of a pop-top. It's true- promise!
5. Daily To-Do List: Yep, I'm a little OCD (: Always have my to-do list with me. Nothing thrills me more than to check off a box!
6. Orbit Gum: I'm a gum-a-holic. Fun Fact: It keeps me focused better in class.
7. Pen: You know, to check off my to-do list (:
8. Tape Measurer: My grandma gave this Brighton tape measurer to me and said, "A good interior designer always has a measuring device incase they're out and see something for a client or project!"
9. Little Makeup Kit: Lotion, face makeup, more lip gloss, bobby pins, mirror, etc. All those extra little goodies are found in my polka dot Betsy Johnson case.
10. Camera: Not pictured cause I'm taking the picture, silly! Goes everywhere with me.
All that is in addition to my school notebook, books, and sometimes laptop. Which, clearly, is also purple.
There ya have it! What's in your bag?!
Happy Monday!

ReplyDeleteI think I need to adopt the eat every 2 hours thing... it'd cut back on crankiness for sure for me!
You are so precious with the tape measure... good thinking!

oh i love these posts!!! so fun!
ReplyDeleteI love this! Your purse is great and I have a to-do list on my phone all the time, or little notes scattered everywhere :)
ReplyDeletepeanut butter filled pretzels!! YUM! Love, love, LOVE that you carry them around with you... I should really look into doing something like that.
ReplyDeleteOh no! Now I'm going to have to go get some Trader Joe's peanut pretzels, I forgot how good looking and tasty they are. I'm the same, I carry a to do list, my camera, a water bottle, lip glosses and gum in my purse! I love my purple too! I just got a purple canvas tote from Tommy Hilfiger, its perfect for carrying my books.
ReplyDeleteLove this! Your number 1 is my number 1...snacks are a MUST at all times. :) I hope your school year is going well and I sooo wish I still lived in PDX so I could come visit again!! Xo, Katie
ReplyDeleteI love that purse!!! Unfortunately my purse always weighs a ton: school books, too many essential items, a water bottle, a sippy cup and probably a matchbox car or two (I'm a mommy to a three year old) and a whole other bag for my lunch!
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of camera do you have? Just curious!
I so agree that durability is important when buying a bag! I used a coach purse (that I bought for way cheap at an outlet) for almost TWO straight years. Seriously, the only purse I used! It is definitely showing its age now, so I have switched to a Kate Spade bag... which I also got a SUPER good deal on! I'm a girl who loves quality... but doesn't like to pay for it. ;)
ReplyDeleteFun post Michaela! I like those sneak peeks! And cute purse too!
ReplyDeleteLove the Coach bag! Perfect for school and everyday life. Very stylish! :)
ReplyDeletecute, cute!! love the snack - i always have granola bars in my bag :)
ReplyDeleteI've been on the hunt for a new big bag to use as an airplane carryon since I'm a frequen traveler. Something to fit my laptop - I might swing by Meadow and see what big handbags she has in stock right now :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I was as organized with my purse. I tend to just throw my wallet, keys, and sunglasses in and go. Love this idea though!
ReplyDeletecutest tape measure ever??? I think so! and that's so smart of your grandma! I had a baby tape measure in my purse when we were still shopping for all of our furniture (I got everything a thrift stores and swap meets so it took a few months)
ReplyDeletemy purse criteria #1 is the handle must be long enough to accommodate my elbow to wrist measurements and short enough that once it is over my shoulder i can squish with said elbow.
ReplyDeleteLove it! My bag is somewhat similar- I like bigger bags. I always have my wallet, camera, iphone, lip gloss/stick, chapstick, compact, pillbox, invisalign case, and pen. :)
ReplyDeleteFun post!!! It changes depending on where I'm going, but I always have my phone, my keys, my EOS lipbalm, water, and pencil & paper.
ReplyDeleteLove your bag!! I'm with you on carrying huge purses instead of backpacks :) I always have my gray Coach wallet, rosebud salve from Anthropologie, a little Jonathan Adler notebook of ideas and inspiration (and frequently to-do lists!), a pen, and stride gum. I am so bad about taking my camera out, but I'm going to try really hard to start! Do you have a camera case that you like?
ReplyDeleteLove a bag you can throw everything into. I just ordered a new tote from Banana Republic. I so need to keep a snack with me, and water!
ReplyDeleteDurability and compartments are total necessities for me too! And I always, always have at least 1 chapstick in my bag too. :)
ReplyDeletea big bag is a must for me! i carry just about everything in it!
ReplyDeletePeanut butter pretzels...oh no...another snack for me to try. I have a big bag and carry EVERYTHING!!
ReplyDeleteVery cute bag, Michaela! I need to remember to bring a snack in my purse. I remember the tape measure! I love the comment your grandma said about always carrying one. Smart lady!
ReplyDeleteCute blog! I am going to need some scientific proof about the pop-top . . . maybe I need to switch! And those TJ's peanut butter filled pretzels are my favorite. I always stock up on them when we are in Cali, but I am out now. Boo!
ReplyDeleteVery organized, I love it! I have been on the hunt for a new bag...my criteria are the same as yours. Why is so hard to find exactly what I want?! Ha!
ReplyDeleteWHERE can I get a water bottle like that? I've been really into Camelback bottles lately but I want to try a pop-top since it makes you drink more water!
ReplyDeleteThat tape measure is adorable!! I am totally in for the snack every two hours! Haha!!
ReplyDeletedo M&Ms from weeks/months ago at the bottom of my purse count as an emergency snack?
