I'm a little late, but I'm excited to share our 5 day trip to Florida with you! We did almost the exact same trip last year (we just loved it so much!), but went to different restaurants, so I thought I'd update you.
We stayed at the Westin Cape Coral, which is right on a beautiful marina. The views are amazing, the pool is lovely, and they have a water taxi boat to and from Ft. Myers Beach each day, so it's the perfect spot! The first night we got there, we went to dinner at Doc Ford's Garage and it was really good. We got in a little later that day, so we just went to dinner then went back to the hotel to get ready for the next day.
Oh, one thing we do on trips like this that I feel is super helpful with the food budget and overall ease, is going to the grocery store right when we get in and get breakfast and lunch items to pack each day to the beach! That way we aren't going out every single day and we have snacks while on the beach. We do splurge on one or two brunches while we are away though ;)
Anyways, here's a photo from sunset on the marina where our hotel was. So pretty!
For our first beach day, we went to Ft. Myers Beach. We had the best weather every single day of the vacation!
All the beach essentials:
both spray tinted sunscreen for a nice glow and regular sunscreen lotion, my favorite floppy hat (not pictured) and a super soft and HUGE beach towel, and Amazon sunglasses.I got two new swimsuit tops for our trip. They were half off when I snagged them and they're both adorable!
This ribbed scallop one is so classy. True to size, adjustable straps and comes in a couple colors.
The next day we went to Naples, which we did not do last year on our trip. We went to
Jane's Cafe for brunch and it was super crowded, but delicious. I got a mimosa and it came with rubber ducky inside...I thought it was hilarious!
From the quaint little downtown area (which was filled with shops I'd never heard of plus Lily Pulitzer ;)), we walked to the beach. It was about an 8 minute walk to Naples Pier beach and along the way we passed some insanely beautiful homes!!
The water in Naples was crystal clear and my favorite shade of seaglass.
In Naples, we went to dinner at
Campiello and it was so,
so delicious. I highly recommend!! I had this recommended to us a few times and I'm so grateful because the pasta was divine. Everything was homemade and the setting was beautiful, too!
The next day we stayed at the hotel pool for the day and it was just what we needed to relax. The following day we went to Sanibel Island, just like we did last year, and we had the best day! We did brunch at
The Lighthouse Cafe again since it was a favorite from last year, and then we headed to the beach.
The beaches in Sanibel are unlike anything I've ever seen. The sand close to the water is made up of all shells! It's the most beautiful and unique thing!
We brought lots of pretty ones home for our collection. I keep them in a bowl on our living room builtins so we can remember our time in Sanibel :)
This is the second swimsuit top I got and I liked it equally as much as the scallop look. This one also has adjustable straps, but it does not hook or tie in the back, so you do have to put it over your head to get it on. I love the little ruffle shoulder! I got my normal size.
For dinner in Sanibel, we actually drove over to Captiva Island (connected to Sanibel!) and we went to Cantina Captiva, a fun Mexican food restaurant. We got the fajitas and margaritas and it was great!
After dinner we headed to watch the sunset at the same beach we did last year (it was too good to not go back!) It's the beach right off the bar called Mucky Duck. Almost everyone recommends watching the sunset here. I mean, LOOK!!
I found
this dress at Target before our trip and I loved it so much! I might even wear it for Easter, too. It also comes in blue and white stripes. Speaking of Target, they're having a
BOGO 50% off on all shoes!!
This sweet lady asked if we wanted our photo taken and I happily obliged. She was so kind, taking tons of pictures and even told us how cute we were ;)
The next morning was the day of our flight, so we stuck around the hotel and took a sunrise walk around the marina. It was lovely...and that's coming from the biggest not-morning-person ever ;)
We feel so grateful that we got this time away. It was everything we needed to get through the last part of winter and reconnect with each other! Sometimes we need to step out of the mundane parts of life and soak up the joy that comes with something different and beautiful.
