Friday Finds: Shoes on Sale

Friday's seem to come around so quickly here! As this next week is the last week of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I wanted to highlight the best shoes (men and women!) that are still available.  Since there are free shipping + returns, the best way to do this is to buy a few pairs you love online, then try them on and only keep the winners. There's no penalty! Shoes are tricky, so I always make sure to try a bunch on before I find the perfect pair.

PSSST! Anthropologie is having a 30% off sale + FREE shipping. Today is the last day, so take advantage of it with code STAYCOOL at checkout. They have some beautiful freshly cut items, including this adorable tunic. I'm getting one! (After reading reviews, I'm going for a petite XS, since they say they run really big.) Here are my faves:

Have a GREAT weekend, friends!

Bride & Bridesmaid Jewelry I Love

via

Over the course of wedding planning, I spent a lot of time looking at bridesmaid styles. Their dresses, color palette, styles, hair, jewelry, bouquets. Everything ;) When it comes to bride and bridesmaid jewelry, I think my favorite look is when it's kept simple and sweet. Just enough, but not too much. That's always my jewelry rule of thumb!

If you do a bit larger earring, maybe forgo the necklace. If your neckline is high like below, do a bracelet and earring instead. If you have a sweetheart neckline, throw on a bit of a statement necklace and keep the other accessories smaller (see above!) I'm telling my girls to bring some simple pieces to wear. And if you're looking for a great bridesmaid gift, maybe gift them a piece of jewelry they can wear on your big day!

I will be wearing no necklace (hmm...wonder what that means about my dress?! :)) a dangly pair of earrings and a bracelet. There may or may not be a pretty piece in my hair, too! Okay, can't give it away entirely!

Bloom Bash Florida: Day Two Recap

Last week I showed you Day One of Bloom Bash Florida, and today we're showing you Day Two! It was a jam-packed two days with some seriously talented and creative women. We are always so humbled and in awe of the women who we have the pleasure of meeting at Bloom. They are eager, smart, passionate, and love people. It's safe to say we love teaching Bloom because of the people we meet! While our workshop is meant to educate and inspire our attendees, we always leave inspired as well.
Day Two started out with a delicious breakfast (chicken and waffles!) and then we headed in to social media. We teach on how to use Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Periscope for your business. We loved having Jen of IHeart Organizing (oh, how I love her!) there to speak on how to best use Pinterest for our businesses. It is always a pleasure to hear from her, as she is incredibly knowledgeable on this subject! We finished the early afternoon with lunch and headshots for our attendees.
Next, it was time to get our hands dirty by playing with flowers! Alicia of Bows + Arrows Flowers taught our floral design session and to describe it as "pretty" would be  a huge understatement. There were flowers everywhere-- including the most beautiful peonies you've ever seen! We always love offering these hands-on sessions because it's important to get out of your normal creative routine to try something new. You'd be surprised how inspiring and life-giving this is!
After teaching sessions on both styling + design and photography, we finished the day with a gorgeous styled wedding shoot. Although it was pouring down buckets of rain on us, we still managed to create some serious beauty. The sweet gals were troopers and they styled and photographed their hearts out. Take a peek at our Day Two! Come back next week for our recap video so you can see it in action.

Ah, how we wish we could go back to Florida for some more fun with these ladies!
If you missed our Florida Bloom Bash, but wanted to attend and are ready to make an investment in your business, there's still hope! We're doing it all again in Southern California this October. Details here!

Creating Wedding Vignettes (& sneak peek of ours!)

via

I’m excited to talk to you about one of my favorite elements on our wedding: creating vignettes and seating areas for guests. This might not sound very exciting to most, but as an interior designer by trade, creating conversation areas and making guests feel welcomes is really important to me! (This post was on Style Me Pretty yesterday, in case you missed it!)

Seeing as a wedding is a fluid event, meaning people are constantly floating from one thing to the next naturally, you don’t necessarily have to worry too much about having a ton of seating in every area of the event, but it is important to remember a few key things:
via
Think of the elderly folks attending your wedding, like grandparents. It’s always nice to have a bit of reserved seating for them for a few reasons. First, pure convenience for them! Second, they’ll know you thought of them especially, which is a sweet touch. We are reserving a bench area at the cocktail hour and an upholstered sofa for them at our reception so they are nice and comfy.

Thinking of what takes place at each aspect of the wedding will help you determine what type of vignettes to create. A vignette doesn’t always mean seating; it can be a variety of things. For example, when guests first arrive to our venue, they are greeted with a cards, gifts and guest book table with a cute welcome sign. Immediately the tone is set. Next, they’ll find a lemonade and ice tea table for pre-ceremony refreshments. These are two separate areas where guests can gather to do different things. Thinking of these groupings of zones might be helpful– you never want your guests standing around wondering what they’re supposed to do, so make it easy for them!
At cocktail hour, while a few seating areas might be nice, it’s more important to have taller cocktail tables around the area where guests are standing (ours will be wine barrels, since it’s at a winery!). People often want to put their drink down on a table or rest their arm on a surface while they have conversation with others.
At the dancing portion of the reception, think of placing some cocktail tables around the dance floor, benches or regular tables for those who want to watch and not dance, and perhaps creating sweet, vintage arrangements for comfort and style. A variety of set-ups is the best way to go!

I’m so excited to have Forage Vintage Rental Company on board for our wedding. Bethany has the sweetest inventory of feminine, vintage pieces– fitting perfectly in line with our venue and wedding style. She’s even hunted down a few beautiful pieces just for our big day! We are creating a few seating vignettes, seen on the inspiration board. The blush pink sofa is so perfect with our color palette of blush, lavender and navy! In addition to the upholstered pieces you see, we’ll also be utilizing the venue’s wooden furniture.
To add some comfort and to help soften the space visually, we’re accessorizing with some Lulu & Georgia throw pillows and blankets. California might have warm days, but sometimes the evenings are chilly, so we want to be prepared! A few pillows in our color palette will add texture and comfort, hopefully making our guests feel right at home.
