And all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse golden retriever.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.
The manger scene displays the baby's birth to say
that Jesus was born on Christmas Day.
Up in the sky, the stars shone bright,
leading the wisemen to the humble stable at night.
Christ, God's gift from Heaven above,
a symbol of his grace and mercy and love.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
Dreaming of the cookies and milk they left out,
hoping to hear Santa delighted and give a big shout.
They wanted to see the jolly man in his red suit,
and hopefully get a glimpse of those big black boots.
Clunk, Crash, Kaboom!
He is here in the living room.
The tree is all trimmed from it's head to it's toes,
boasting it's colors, flowers, glitter and glow.
He checked off their names, the girl and the boy.
He found them on the nice list, which brought him great Joy!
As he bent down on one knee,
He left the gifts beneath the tree.
He smiled again for he knew the morning would soon be near.
And this, this my friends, would fill the children's hearts with great cheer!
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
and away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, 'ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"
