Did you know it's actually proven that when a person walks into a room with lots of red, their heart rate will automatically increase? It gets your blood pumping. Red the absolute most appetizing color. So serving food on red plates or eating in a room with red walls or accents will actually make someone more hungry! Partly why red apples are so delectable (:
So what do you think? How much red can you handle?

My parent's bedroom. Just a small accessory does the trick sometimes!
Are you a paint-your-walls-red, or a splash-in-some-red-accessories here or there? Or maybe you hate it? And that's okay, too (:
Love and Red Red Red,
Red is one of those colors I can't quite decide what to think about.
ReplyDeleteI like the color, but for my home I am more of a white, neutral color person.
That being said sometimes a pop of color is needed and red would be on the list, although at the moment that color for me is blue.

You picked some great rooms! I'm loving that second room :) My hubby's dad and stepmom have a red living room that I love!
ReplyDeleteI love color! That Ikea room is fabulous - never thought about red in home decorating for me but must admit I'm liking it.
ReplyDeletedefnitely didnt know any of this about red - so cool! so you're saying i should wear red on my next date? ;) JK! LOVE that kitchen backsplash!
ReplyDeleteI love red. My living room is a bright, vibrant red. It feels so nice and warm when we're there. But now it makes sense as to why we eat in there so much haha!
ReplyDeleteMy living room is done in red and brown and I love it! I only have red accents, but it's just enough for me!
ReplyDeleteWe have a 4-level split house, so our deep red accent wall runs from the front of the house, all the way to the back door! I love it.
ReplyDeleteRed is delectable? Does that count for redheads? ☺
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of deep and burnt reds in decorating. Such a statement maker!
I'm not a "red" girl myself...although it definitely depends on the TYPE of red. I find deeper reds, like burgundy or deep rose easier to handle than something bright like a brick red, orangey-red or even coca cola red (I'd go MAD instantly, I'm sure).
ReplyDeleteColour psychology is a lot of fun, enjoy!
My post today is all about colour too (what's that they say about great minds?...) :) Hope you'll come check it out!

I love accents of red, but I don't think I could do a whole wall in red.
ReplyDeleteI really like that living room in the second picture. I am into the deep red walls and the white shelving and trim. The next picture is a little too much for me, because I think that when red is mixed with a pattern I go a little crazy.
ReplyDeleteEither way... I'm not really sure that I would use red in my own place. I am much more into blues, grays, and greens. :)
I am slowly learning how to respect the color that is Red. I always used to hate it. HATE it with a passion [oddly enough, passion would be associated with Red... Grrr... oops there we go again, so would anger].
ReplyDeleteI do really like that comforter in the second photo... Im not sure I could pair it with the red patterned wall... that might be to much lol.
Great photos. It helps in my slow going appreciation towards Red :)
I am a huge fan. . . have always be drawn to it in mellow doses. In fact I am trying to get away from it an go cooler but it's hard for me! Something warm and inviting about red to me!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute post, Michaela!! I love red...our living room is done in accents of green and red! The kitchen, too! Maybe THAT'S why I eat so much!! Haha!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy visiting other homes with red...it's a fun color and and I do love cooler shades of red. For me...I am mostly seeking a calming factor when I am in my own home....hence I gravitate towards whites, soft greens and blues. I definitely don't need to eat more, so red in my kitchen would be dangerous for me! Even my garden is mostly cool color flowering plants:)Although, I'll accept a red rose from my husband any time;)
ReplyDeleteI love that red wallpaper. Maybe because I am on a wallpaper kick! I like red in small doses- a cute red blouse, red patterned pillow or throw. Don't think I could ever paint a whole room red!
ReplyDeleteWe love red enough to have a red couch! http://www.flickr.com/photos/54995359@N05/5281418089/in/set-72157625109129415/
ReplyDeletei LOVE wearing red, but sometimes i'm not sure how to decorate it. i think i prefer just a few accents, although all these pics are quite inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI am loving the red southern living bedroom. I had heard that red makes you more hungry but I'm honestly not sure how much I believe that....plus I've always hated red apples:)
ReplyDeleteWearing It On My Sleeves
thank you for the sweet comment on my blog and for following! LOVE LOVE Your blog...especially because I am currently trying to plan the future interior design of my unpurchased home :)
ReplyDeleteYou are just lovely!

I think it's really hard to find the right shade of red. Especially when it comes to red lipstick! I am more of a bluish red, than a red orange. Our home actually has a lot of red in it, but it's more of a burgandy red. I would totally do a red accent wall, but maybe not all the walls or it becomes too dark. But mostly I just like red accessories :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I am a big lover of red; it's my favorite! I usually prefer warm colors to cool ones though.
ReplyDeleteSo you're saying when I find that I can't stop stuffing my face, I can just blame it on our red plates ;)
ReplyDeleteWe actually have a red wall in our house, and while I used to love it, I'm getting tired of it now. But I'll always love pops of red.

Love red accessories, love to wear red, but not crazy about a whole wall painted red. Do like that wallpaper in the bedroom pic, though!
ReplyDeleteOk, this post makes me want to incorporate red into my house.. since there is none. Can I just take one of the rooms from the picture and put it in my house??
ReplyDeleteWe have lots of red accents in our downstairs level. Can't do red walls though.
ReplyDeleteDesigns by Belinda. The red wall in your parents is my signature red. This shade seem to go with everything without turning orange or pink. It has enough brown undertones to hold up with a red white and blue color scheme or whatever you put it with. Lovely blog.
