The cutest little white fur ball arrived at our house last night. Santa may have a been a few weeks late with my Christmas Wish, but I'll forgive him.
Our family has been searching for a new puppy recently, afterthe loss of our girl Shasta this past summer. My mom found a breed of golden retrievers called English Cream Goldens and she immediately knew that is what we wanted! Each morning over Christmas break, we would be on her iPad searching for breeders who bred English Cream Golden pups to see if we could find one to fit our family. We found a great breeder in Arizona and connected right from the start. We thought we were going to have to wait until February to get a little puppy, but God had other plans! The breeder called us to tell us that the pick of their last litter {and the pup everyone wanted/thought was so cute!} was sadly returned to her because the original owner had a medical problem and couldn't handle a dog at the moment. My mom knew this was our dog, so we gladly claimed the sweet girl. Our family couldn't wait to welcome her home. Here she is with her brother's and sister's at just 6 weeks old:
So without further adieu...
Meet our newest addition, Hope.
She truly represents hope to our family, considering the loss of Shasta was so tough. No one can prepare you for losing an animal you love, but the memories of Shasta and the thought of getting a new puppy is what got us through. My mom is going to train Hope to be a pet therapy dog, in order to go into hospitals, care centers and old folks' homes. Animals, especially beautiful dogs, can bring so much joy {and hope!} to the patients.
I can't wait to go home to California next weekend to meet Hope! She already told me via Skype that her favorite color is lavender, so I'm sure we'll hit it off :)
We happen to think our little girl is the cutest pup we've ever seen and we're SO blessed to have her!
Have a wonderful Monday filled with lots of joy!

ReplyDeleteYay! SO happy for you and Hope! She is beautiful and looks like a sweetie :). I've never heard of the English Cream breed before, they look like great dogs! I love that you are training her to take to hospitals....I think my dog would be great at that, he is so friendly!

ReplyDeleteOh I am SO happy for you! I feel like we all got a new dog! She is gorgeous and is going to make so many people happy. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweetie. Best wishes.
ReplyDeleteWould have been nice if you had rescued a dog. There are too many in shelters to buy from breeders. Why pay for one when millions are put down in this country every year?
ReplyDeleteOMGOSH - ADORABLE!!! Congrats on baby Hope!
ReplyDeleteThis is so, so, SO sweet! Congratulations on the newest addition to the family! My moms dog recently passed away as well, now they're looking for a black lab puppy to ease the pain of losing her favorite dog!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations girly! I'm so happy for you... She is ADORABLE. And that is so awesome that your mom is going to train her as a therapy dog. The ER that I work in has a program set up where therapy dogs come in a couple times a month, and it's just so fun to see the patient's faces light up. Have a wonderful Monday! :)
ReplyDeleteShe is absolutely beautiful, Michaela! How special to train her to be a therapy dog. I know she will touch many lives!

adorable!
ReplyDeleteso cute!! I am so puppy hungry it's not even funny. Husband says no but I may just have to surprise him one day with a puppy!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, Michaela! I'm so happy for you. Wow, God DID have other plans. I remember you telling me it would likely be Spring time.
ReplyDeleteHope is adorable (um...hello...she IS a golden. Lol.)
Word of advice...don't leave her harness on her. Twice. Puppy surgery is not fun. Ask mine. Lol. Oh, and last night she ate aluminum foil. Vet said to give her bread and milk, all soggy. She is a canine garbage disposal.
We, too, are training our Sasha. But mainly so she won't be a terror. Haha. She's on her 3rd level. She's now learning to crawl and this week she'll learn to READ! Haha. No, really! Will your mom train Hope her herself, or take her somewhere?
Anyway, I know how special this is for all of you. Very happy for you. :) Can't wait to see more pics.
Awwww, yay!!! So excited and happy for you and your family! She looks so precious! :)
ReplyDeleteAwww... What a cute and beautiful puppy!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh she is adorable, as is her name. What a sweet, sweet face. Puppies are wonderful and bring so much joy to your life. Enjoy her everyday :)
ReplyDeleteHad your family considered adopting a rescue pup from a shelter?
ReplyDeleteYaaaay!! Congrats on your newest addition, Michaela!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you! I love that she is going to be trained to go in and brighten others' days!! How special!!
She sure would look mighty pretty with a lavender collar!! ;)
Hope is just the most precious little puppy in the whole wide world!! Love that your parents are going to train her to become a therapy dog. So neat!! So happy for you and your family! :)

ReplyDeleteYay!! Congrats on the new addition to the family! She is adorable!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone! We're just so excited!!! Can't wait to share more pictures next week (:
ReplyDelete@Anon: We actually did search for a dog from a shelter, went to events to try to adopt them, but because my mom is doing pet therapy with the dog, (in our experience) we found that the dogs at the shelter didn't have the right temperament for that. We love the idea of getting a dog from a shelter in a year or two when Hope is out of the puppy stage, and I will most definitely rescue a dog at some point in my life when I get a house. So while we think rescuing is awesome, it didn't happen this time around, and I don't really think it was your place to judge where we got our dog from. Thank you for your concern, though.
She is adorable!!! How exciting for you and your family!! :)
ReplyDeleteHow Sweet! We are just finishing up construction on our first home and I am trying to convince my husband we need a puppy! No luck yet! I have puppy envy!

ReplyDeleteI am dying here. I want a golden so so badly. I haven't ever heard of English Cream Goldens.... do they have the same temperament as the darker goldens like Shasta? Congrats Michaela!! Hope is adorable, can't wait to stalk your blog for more pics of her! She will help immensely with your healing, but I must admit, you're lucky to get to raise her from afar, cause as I type this I am pulling pieces of paper and other schrapnel from our new puppy Cash's mouth. Yikes, its hard work to raise a pup, but well worth it!!! Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteI haven't looked at your blog in a while, and when I saw Hope's blog entry, I had a feeling that she was an English Cream!
