Hi, all! Hope your Easter weekend was wonderful! If you missed the picture on yesterday's Easter post, it's almost worth it to look now(:
Today I'm sharing my latest Perspective Drawing class project with y'all {Oh yeah, I started saying y'all over on Megan's blog(: } Our assignment is to draw our dream room in perspective. Sound easy? It's not! But it sure is fun. And hey, I'd rather spend 3 hours drawing than studying for a chemistry exam. Fall quarter I took a floor plan drafting class and loved it. We learned how to draft elevations and plans, and my favorite elevation was of my kitchen, so for this perspective project I knew I wanted to do a kitchen. Here are my two inspiration images. You may be confused since one isn't a kitchen, but I'll explain below!
Any ideas of how I'm combining these two lovely photos??
Here's the scoop:
I loved the idea of the loft above a room, so above the kitchen, I'm adding a loft-catwalk-looking-thing to add some interest and depth. Here's my floor plan and elevation so far:
An elevation is just a flat drawing of one wall of the room. My elevation is the North wall in the above floor plan.
The store fireplace doubles as a pizza oven. It was my favorite feature of the inspiration room, so I knew it was staying. Note to self: pizza kitchen is on my wish list for my future home (:
Hope you enjoyed a tiny look into my school work! Suggestions are always welcome. Next up is actually drawing it in perspective.
Hope you have a wonderful Monday! I'm off to kick a Textile midterm {the day after Easter, really?!} in the booty!
Love and Drawing,
wow girl! You spoke a language foreign but exciting to me in this one. haha. I love the idea and concept. I like the open vibe too. I don't want a closed off home. I want it to feel connected and free flowing and welcoming and I want a study somewhere private but optimistically bright to go away and study my bible and read my books and write in my journal and eat pastries...
ReplyDeletehahaha K. I am done. Thanks for sharing and I love the plan! I'm no expert but I think my taste is decent enough.

oh. btw. I'm following you!
Love it! I love the look of loft, and would die for a pizza oven right in my very own kitchen. Very cozy and functional at the same time. Great job!! Good luck on your test.
ReplyDeleteSimply amazing! You are so talented I love the kitchen and the look of the loft above looking over! Beautiful space! :)

Love it!! The fireplace is awesome and I love the catwalk above! Can't wait to see it in perspective! I have to draw a perspective for my set design class and it'll be, uh, interesting haha My drawing skills are not that good :P
ReplyDeleteOh love it! The top image is simply gorgeous! And so is the dream kitchen - and pizza kitchen?!? Yes, please!
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas and beautiful work lady! You are doing so well. I'm a huge fan of the loft idea.
ReplyDeleteI wish we had a class that taught us perspective drawing... but I don't think they make it part of our part time program (lame!).
I love having to draw elevations for people! (Although I do everything via Autocad instead of by hand, but still!) I draw floor plans, details and elevations for a living!
ReplyDeleteNice job! I have an eye for pretty images and rooms, but beyond that it's all Greek to me! When I get my next house I migh thave to hire you...I want a pizza oven too okay? Write that down ;)
ReplyDeleteOh that is SO cool...love the combined rooms and the pizza oven is awesome! Can't wait to see how it comes along! :)
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure that if I could eat pizza every.single.night and not gain a pound I would! I just love it. The pizza oven/fireplace would make the kitchen so cozy. I love the cabinets with glass too. Something about seeing pretty dishes while in the kitchen makes me happy! (:
ReplyDeleteYou'll do great on your Textile midterm!
I love the idea of a loft, too! You did a great job with those drawings!... you are so talented!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your booty kickin'! (c: Seriously, what was your textile teacher thinkin'??? But you were right about the pic from yesterday...worth going back and taking a look, so gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeletelooks fabulous! LOVE the idea of a pizza oven :)
ReplyDeleteLove your drawing. And taking your inspriation from two looks and combining them is sooo "designer". I like the stone, tile, and whatever the counter surface is going to be (granite or solid surface)and making it all work together. You are going to be a great designer. It must be the jeans (genes)!
