This last weekend I had one of the most wonderful experiences. The last few months I've really be thinking about what I want to do after I graduate, and event design and planning has been on my mind (in addition to interior design, of course). I'm currently taking an event planning class at school, and one of our assignments required us to attend an event and write a critique on the day. As the wonderful world of blogging goes, I have a friend who works for the fabulous event design and coordination company, Bash Please, here in Los Angeles. They graciously allowed me to come to the wedding they did this past weekend and it was over-the-top-amazing. The team of girls were so kind, organized and stylish. It was an honor to watch them work and assist them on this wedding. Friends, the details were to die for...I just kept squealing with delight! See those flowers above? Now imagine those + tea light candles everywhere. Be still my heart. It didn't hurt that there were a few fun celebrities at the wedding as well :)
I'm so grateful to have been able to tag along at the wedding this weekend. I learned a lot and was able to see first hand how events work. There are so many details that go into a single wedding, not to mention so much emotion and time invested into making the most special day of the bride and groom's life perfectly sweet.
Lately, there's an overwhelming feeling inside of me that just wants to do big things when I graduate. I can't wait to serve people through design. I want the chance to work for people who love design as well, so I can learn from them before I venture out on my own. This ever-present feeling of almost needing a real job scares me, excites me and totally motivates me. It's overwhelming. I've been praying lately that God will open and shut doors where He pleases so I will be directed to the job He wants me to have {wherever that may be}. This weekend I was reminded to surround myself with people who love their jobs and have passion for people, because the girls I assisted at Bash Please, totally had that.
Today I'm going to a taping of The Voice with my friend Julie, so that's all I have for you today...a weekend recap and some rambling thoughts :)
Enjoy your Monday! Come back tomorrow for a fun announcement!!
Love,

ReplyDeleteI LOVE that white top :) Duh :)
ReplyDeleteMichaela you're so sweet and humble! I'd be bragging about those celebs you saw! Such a lucky girl :) xo
ReplyDeleteThe wedding looked ahmazing!! So many beautiful details...what a fun assignment! I think whatever you do post college you'll be great at. You have the right attitude and you're so dedicated. Exciting things are ahead!! xo
ReplyDeleteHi Michaela!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if you remember when we went to lunch in the city on Fillmore St. last summer when Michelle was in town and I brought my BFF, Cassandra, who is a wedding planner in SF. She is always looking for good assistants and does a ton of weddings in Los Gatos, so if you ever are looking for an opportunity let me know and I will reintroduce you two. Here is the link to her website http://downeystreetevents.com/designers/cassandra-o’gara/
I'm in the same boat, girlfriend! I've been designing stationary for a while now, and also have been doing photography (to save extra money for my wedding). I would love to dive into something full time though, one day. You will definitely succeed in whatever direction you go! Xo
ReplyDeleteLooks like a super fun weekend! I know those job fears well--but from my little bit of post-college experience, employers are looking for people who are talented, flexible, passionate, and willing to work hard, and you, my dear, are all of those things! You are more than employable--you are aware of your calling. You will do such GREAT work. God has an amazing plan for you! Xo, Katie
ReplyDeleteLove this post and our conversation on Saturday night! It may take a few bumps in the road before we get to the right place, but I am so confident that the Lord blesses us with passions and talents for a reason, and He will give us a way to use them :) xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, it sounds like you're having an AMAZING time in LA! And The Voice!? Seriously? Love that show! Or maybe just Adam Levine... Lol.
ReplyDeleteGod has been opening so many doors for you, I know you're gonna go far no matter what you choose...Honestly, you don't even have to choose, you can do everything, just one at a time. Couple years doing one thing, a couple years doing another. You could be a designing triple threat!
:)
What a fabulous weekend! Have fun at the Voice. We have loved watching the show.
ReplyDeleteThis seems SO SO SO like what you were called to do. You are going to bless so many people! Hope y'all have fun tonight!!
ReplyDeleteYou will be amazing whatever you do! You are just so talented. Looking for you and Julie on the voice. Hope you are having a fabulous time!!
ReplyDeleteI just love your attitude and your heart! You'll be great no matter what you do! How fun to go to a taping of the Voice - love that show!
ReplyDeleteBash, Please is just amazing!! How amazing you got to go to one of their weddings :)
ReplyDeleteI love hearing about your heart for design! I know that the Lord will do big things through you, but I can share in the "wonder" of what that would be. As we get close to graduation, I, too, am really questioning and praying about what the Lord will have me do. It is such a BIG thing and I just pray that I follow him! Thanks for sharing, girl! Always love catching up with you!
ReplyDeleteThis is all so exciting, Michaela! I have no doubt that you would be an absolutely perfect fit in the wedding industry + what a blessing you would be to so many Brides! Enjoy your "figuring things out" time--it's a really special place to be and will undoubtedly draw you even closer to the Lord! xoxo
ReplyDeleteso excited for you about what is to come. what an amazing opportunity to work with the bash please girls - they're so talented!! you are doing great things over there - good things will happen, you're already so far ahead of the game as it is!
ReplyDeleteObviously catching up on your posts...little by little. What an incredible opportunity! I'd be squealing, too! You're definitely heading for big things. When you're famous, I'll get to say I "knew" you when...
