Hair Care Tips & Giveaway {CLOSED}

Details | Army green jeggings: Citizens (similar); Lace top: Madewell; Booties: Target (similar); Blue bracelet: Baublebar; Pink bracelet: Anthropologie (sale!)

I wore this outfit to the LA Design Blogger's Conference last week. It was just enough comfy and cozy, mixed with a dash of urban .  I did my hair in this waterfall braid hairstyle and I don't think I've ever gotten more compliments. I did a tutorial of it before here, and a lot of you said you'd love to do it if only you knew how to braid! I'm sorry friends, I can't help with that. BUT what I can help with is happy, healthy, smooth hair.  As a girl with thick, coarse and long, textured hair, I have a few tips up my sleeve for healthy hair. Since I often get emails about how I do my hair, I thought I'd share some tips here:

- Shower at night and go to bed with wet hair to avoid the heat from the dryer
-Comb through your hair in the shower while your conditioner is still in. This helps prevent breakage
- Don't sleep with your hair in a ponytail, as the rubber band will likely break fine hairs off, creating damage and fly-aways
- If you can, try to go a day or two without washing your hair every once and a while. With the help of my new favorite shampoo and conditioner, my hair is able to be washed every other day and feels super clean!
- Taking vitamins can really help bring shine to your hair
- A bit of oil on the ends of your hair before using a hot tool is a great idea

Now, for those of you who want to know what I use to wash my hair with, you're in luck. I've recently been using my Pro Sante Shampoo and Conditioner from Shaklee. My friend and sponsor, Marcela of MB Green Cleaning, is kindly giving away the same shampoo and conditioner to TWO lucky winners!  If I could just sell it to you for one second, I would say it's magical.  It maintains your hair's natural pH, has oil and moisture balance, produces shine and resilience! Also, it smells like a Starburst candy...and who doesn't want to smell like that?! I sure do.  In addition to taking in steps in trying to lead a healthy, sustainable life in my home (without taking it to the extreme like some! ha) it's also important to improve our health by choosing the right products we put in our body and on our skin.

  11. You do have the prettiest hair! It's so thick and shiny! I definitely try to avoid washing every day as well. Suave dry shampoo is my favorite for prolonging blow dryed hair a few days, as well as Argan oil before using any heat tools. I also ALWAYS use a leave in conditioner once I'm out of the shower, Aussie haircare has been my favorite for years and is super affordable.
