Early Access Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Favorites

Happy Friday! Today is a fun day because it's the first day of the Early Access Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for cardholders.

First things first: If you're not already, the best way to shop the sale is by becoming a member! Becoming a Nordy's Club member was a no brainer. Becoming a member gets you 7 days early access to the Anniversary Sale, gets you a $60 Nordstrom Note (cash to spend at Nordstrom!) if you make a purchase on the first day of opening your card, and you earn 3 points per dollar to get you more Nordstrom Notes faster. So go sign up to become a member, then come back and look around.

I'm only showing you my favorite pieces-- ones I think will be sold out in no time. Things will be sold out by TODAY even, so if you like something, grab it and you can always return it later (free returns!) This Anniversary Sale has some insane deals and I don't want you to miss out. This sale is basically the release of the fall items and after the sale, they're all back up to their normal pricing (August 3rd), but you can still find summery pieces, too!

Next week I will go to Nordstrom when I'm in California to try on some of my favorite pieces, but since we have no Nordstrom here in Grand Rapids, I'm sharing my favorite picks in inspiration boards for those with early access. I'm only showing you pieces that I would actually wear myself. Most pieces are under $100.  Sound good?! Let's go!

I will link each item below the pictures and will list them top to bottom, left to right. I will also highlight pieces I think will sell out quickly and add any style notes.

DENIM:
top row: Donna Ankle Skinnies -- I love this brand and got a pair from the 2018 sale. I wear them all the time! I sized down one. / Farrah High Waist Ankle Skinny Jean-- this is my favorite designer brand by far. I have had my AG's for years because the quality is SO good! TTS

bottom row: Wit & Wisdom Skinnies -- love the wash on these & the mold and hold technology sounds amazing. / Frame Le High Skinnies -- fun faded, more casual wash. Another designer brand that's a fan favorite.
TOPS:
top: ruffle sleeve blouseyellow peasant top / white & blue plaid
middle: pink gingham tie front / white high neck jersey
bottom: pintuck lace / blue stripe blouse / black & white textured peplum

CARDIGANS & COATS:
top: Thread & Supply Wubby Fleece Pullover -- this one sold out multiple times last year for a good reason! It's cozy, warm and SO cute! Throw on over work out pants or jeans and you're good to go. Comes in a couple colors. This is one I'm getting! / Thread & Supply Fleece Quilted Utility Jacket -- this looks like a must have for living where it gets very cold. Even if it's not warm enough for the winter, it'd take me all the way through fall. The pink color is precious!

middle: Madewell Stripe Cardigan-- love the color blocking! I order TTS because I don't like overly large items. There is some wool in this, but it's Merino, so I'm usually okay with that! Throw on over a white tee and jeans. / Leith Long Cardigan -- long cardi's are so in this year! This one is neutral, chunky and warm.

bottom: Next Level Suede Moto Jacket -- perfect for fall, comes in a couple colors, love the zipper details. / Barefoot Dreams lite cardi-- so soft and cozy!

BOOTS, BOOTIES & OTHER SHOES:
top: Caslon Allie Wedge -- never thought I'd love a sneaker wedge, but I do! So effortless and I've heard this style is comfortable. /  Cole Haan Peeptoe -- Cole Haan is known for their comfort. This is a great heel height and has a cute ankle strap.

middle: Vince Peeptoe-- my mom loves Vince shoes for their comfort and these are so cute with the cutouts! Perfect way to dress up an outfit. / Vince Nethera -- this is a great simple neutral bootie. I have a similar pair to this from 2 years ago and love them! TTS.

bottom: Sole Society Caprica Peeptoe -- adorable buckle detail and easy to dress up or down. / Blondo Nina Waterproof bootie -- I sing Blondo's praises all the time! Waterproof in Michigan is almost a must ;) The braided detail on this year's style is so cute. Love the short heel height, too. I wear TTS on the flat booties but last year I sized up 1/2 size for the heel.

SPLURGE ITEMS:

Okay, that's it for now! Let me know if you're snagging anything. I will be sharing my Nordstrom home finds tomorrow, so come on back :)

** Just a note: I don't think you *need* any of this. You are not less than if you don't buy a single thing. I'm saying this because I need to hear this myself sometimes. Stuff doesn't satisfy us, okay?! But, if you love fashion and like to pick up a couple pieces for the year like me, I try to be a great resource for you!

Tips for Shopping the 2019 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Hi friends! Hope you had an amazing 4th of July weekend! Before I get to the point of this post-- shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale-- I have to share a couple pictures from our weekend!

We went to the beach to visit McCann's grandparent's (they live on Lake Michigan!) It was a hot one, but being by the water was so refreshing. We watched fireworks, played some card games with them and grilled dinner. The rest of our weekend was spent working on our house projects, going to brunch with friends, taking the dog to the park and getting (way too much) ice cream!

I finally put up our gallery wall of wedding photos! I also found some knobs I had collected a while ago, so had my husband put them on a few of our builtins (not the living room ones, since I didn't have enough to do all 4 doors...but did have two so we did our other builtins in the hall and dining room). I also picked up this pretty lamp last week at HomeGoods. I just love it! It ties together a lot of the blue in my decor.

Okay, now for the main event of my post! July 12th is the start of the biggest shopping event of the year if you're a Nordstrom shopper, like me and my mom. This is the perfect sale to stock up on some pieces for fall. I know, it's 90 degrees out; you can't even fathom buying a coat...ha! I get it. But this is when all the best denim, bags, coats, boots and tops go on sale. I'm giving you a couple shopping tips below to be sure you get the most out of the sale, because it can be overwhelming.

1. Get Early Access to the Sale:

If you're not already, the best way to shop the sale is by becoming a member! I was hesitant about joining a couple years ago, because we only have one credit card and are adamant about paying it off each month. After looking into it, becoming a Nordy's Club member was a no brainer. I already shop at Nordstrom often and surely I can remember to login and pay my bill if it comes with so many perks! Hooray!

If you don't want to be a cardholder, you can still become a member here, which will rack you up points, but you won't get early access to the sale without the card.

2. Check out the Catalogue Early:

Browse this look book before the sale starts July 12th so you can get an idea of what will be included!
3. Make a Game-Plan:

Ask yourself what you need to stock up on for fall. Are there any specialty pieces you want to add to your wardrobe? Need a new winter coat or pair of jeans? Now, it's not just fall and winter items that will be on sale, so you can think about summer pieces as well like wedges, tops, etc. If you don't have a list, you will get overwhelmed and might even buy things you don't need. Everyone's going to be sharing their favorite items which is super fun, but I know I can get distracted by what everyone is sharing and forget about what would really be good investment pieces for the next season.
The things I always look for are the following:

- Denim (I almost always buy one pair of jeans each sale-- for example, my AG brand jeans I love always go on sale from $225 down to $145! They're the BEST ever.)
- Bras (my favorite is this Natori style that goes on sale!)
- Underwear (perfect time to stock up on my favorite Hanky Panky brand)
- Fall / Winter Boots and Booties (this is when I buy a pair of the booties I swear by-- Blondo brand-- usually a couple pair go on sale for under $100.)
- Coats and Cardigans (this one was everyone's favorite last year!)
- Accessories (my fave Kendra Scott jewelry usually has a couple beautiful stand out pieces that go on sale)
- Leggings (these Zella Live In Leggings always go on sale and they're amazing!)

We also usually get a couple things for my husband. This is like the ONLY time he shops, ha ;) This year he needs jeans, a couple button ups for work, and shoes (like a pair of nice boots he can wear to work in fall/winter).

Don't forget about the home sale, too! This blanket is my all-time favorite (it's already a great price) and it always goes on sale! Maybe I'll get another color this year.

These are my favorite AG jeans that I got a couple years ago. The frayed bottom is so cute! This is one of the pairs of Blondo waterproof booties I have as well. I just love them.

Important dates:

7/12-7/18: Early Access for Cardholders (become a member here!)
7/19-8/4: Open to Public

Hopefully this is helpful. Get ready for Friday the 12th, friends! And tell me what's on your list! :)

Friday Finds: My NSale Purchases

It's Friday! Every week has been so pretty the past couple weeks, but then weekends come and they're just so gloomy and sad. I feel terrible for my husband who works all week, then doesn't even get to enjoy the sun on the weekends! Hopefully Sunday will look better since Friday and Saturday look like thunderstorms. Maybe it's a movie weekend! Any movie recommendations?!

Friday is always a reason to celebrate, but today is a fun one because the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is finally open for public access. So if you don't have a card, now you can shop!

First up, here are the things I bought:

1. This easy, simple raw-hem tee:
similar shorts

2. Kut from Kloth Skinny Jeans: BACK IN STOCK!! Check their size guide, because they run a little big! I am wearing a 0 and they fit well, but typically I'm a 2. These are SO soft and have some stretch to them. Genuine pockets all the way around. Mid-rise, which normally I don't buy, but I love these so much. They are a little long, so I'll either have them tailored or roll them. At under $60, I think these are a must-have.

3. BP Sweater. (above) This is now only available in XXS, so if you're very petite this would work for you, as it does run a tad roomy. Some reviews said it's too short, but I didn't think so and I have a long torso!

4. This tie dress. It's super soft and cute, but you know what? I ended up returning it because I just felt I didn't totally need it. But I did really like it!

5. My favorite purchase are my waterproof Blondo booties! I got the Taupe Nubock color and they are great. I LIVED in my Blondos last year, so getting this higher heel and different color is going to be a great new option for me this fall and winter. So many readers have told me they got these last year and they are the most comfortable shoe they own! I did purchase the Cognac color as well in a 1/2 size larger than my normal size and when they arrive I'm going to compare color and fit. Some reviews said they sized up while others said true to size, so I'm curious. The pair I already received is an 8 and they fit, but I wonder if they'll be even better a tad larger with thick socks for winter. Stay tuned ;)

Now for some other finds that are still in stock! (I have quite a few in Nordstrom Notes, so I might grab one or two more things!)

1. This Norori Bra. I don't normally post this kinda stuff, but when something is THAT good, I will. The reviews on this one is amazing, so I'm reallyyyy wanting to try it!! Anyone have it and love it?

2. Yep, I'm just going for it today with the lingerie ;) These Hanky Pankies (LOL) are my favorite undies, hands down. They are soft, not too small in the area, if you know what I mean, and they stay in place. They come in solid and some pretty patterns.

3. Simple tee. Comes in a few colors. I love these for layering pieces for winter.

4. Over the knee boots. Still don't have a pair of these, but want to! Maybe I'll ask for them for my birthday :) Love the color and details on these.
5. Plaid button up. Perfect for fall! Layer with a sweater, throw on some jeans and booties and you're good to go!

6. Zella leggings. Great for working out and for those of us in the colder states, great for wearing under long sweaters all.winter.long!!

6. Moto Leggings. I have these from a few years ago and wear them often! The textured detail is great!

7. Barefoot Dreams sweater. I think if I get anything else, this (or one similar) will be it! I can imagine this keeping me warm (and happy) in the winter. I like this color and the dark gray.

8. For all your west coasters and people who live in places that don't experience winter (jealous!!) these Vince Camuto booties are perfect for fall and winter (and spring!) I have a pair of his similar to this from last year and they are my second favoite and most-worn pair of booties (second to the waterproof ones, of course!) The V cut out is so dang cute:

9. Stripe sweater. How fun and retro are these colors?!

10. Striped Ruffle Sleeve Top. So fun and flirty. I could wear stripes all day, every day ;)

That's it for now! I'm going to be adding to this post throughout the day with more good finds, once I have time to dig in even more.

Happy Friday!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Finds: Basics & Favorites Under $100

Hey friends! Big day-- it's the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale for cardholders, which is the biggest sale Nordstrom has all year! Today I'm giving you my top 15 favorite finds (almost all under $100), keeping in mind fall and winter is coming and this is the time to stock up on your favorite brands that never go on sale! You can only shop the sale if you're a cardholder, otherwise, the sale opens to the public next week! It's not too late to sign up though, so grab your card here then start shopping. You can still see the sale items without being a cardholder, but likely most things are gone by the time early access is over!

Sidenote: I know almost every blogger posts about this sale, and I don't want my post to be redundant or annoying (ha!) so I really only picked out items that I truly love and would buy myself. And a couple items that I'm actually buying, of course. My style is simple and feminine and honestly in the winter, I'm practical above all else. Hopefully these favorites of mine are some that you adore, too!

Okay, let's get to it:

1. This Blondo Nova Waterproof Bootie. This is more close to the style I got and wore all last winter (still in amazing condition, so they will be on repeat again, too!) I'm so excited to add another version of this shoe with a higher heel this time to my wardrobe! I live in booties and boots, so it's really a must ;) (Okay, husband?!)

2. AG Raw Legging Hem Ankle Jeans. If you follow on Instagram, you know my puppy chewed one side of these jeans from last year's sale. I've now cut them into capris, but I'm SAD because this is the only pair of jeans I loved wearing in the winter and now I won't be able too because #michiganwinters = no ankles showing! They are the best, softest jeans I've ever owned. The slight raw hem and distressing gives it something extra special. This is my only pick over $100, but they are SO WORTH IT.

3.  7 For All Mankind Skinny Jeans, Release Hem. Under $100 and so cute! Love the dark wash and that super fun hem line. They called this style "release hem".

4. Kut from the Kloth Toothpick Jeans. Even cheaper than the above, this jean is a medium wash with some distressing and still a skinny jean (that's all I wear!) I could get away with these in winter since they come to my ankle.
5. Ruffle Sleeve Top. It's so similar to my eyelet ruffle that I got a couple weeks ago that is now sold out. Ruffles are such a fun way to add some detail to your outfit without blowing the budget!
6. Gibson Convertible Fleece Wrap. I love it styled both ways and feel like I'd LIVE in this in the fall and winter months.

7. Caslon Back Zipper Sweater. Comes in 5 colors! Love the cream and coral. An exposed zipper is one of my favorite things ever. I have a sweater from Loft with an exposed zipper and I get compliments every time I wear it!

8. BP. Exposed Seam Sweater. It comes in my favorite color ever-- lilac/lavender! It also comes in cream and yellow, in case you're not a lilac girl like me ;) The airy bell sleeves were enough to sell me on this one. And it's not wool, which I appreciate considering I am allergic!
9. Hinge Mix Print Peasant Dress. This is really similar to the dress I wore for our Christmas card pictures last year. I love the flowy, bohemian style of it. The tassels are a cute added touch, too!! Comes in two colors, but I'm kinda loving this darker one most!

10. Socialite Tie Waist T-Shirt Dress. Love this easy throw on and go type of cozy and soft dress! You could wear sneakers or wedges and sandals with it.
11. Chambray Cold Shoulder Dress. How sweet is this?! I love a chambray dress for all occasions!
12. Raw Edge Stripe V Neck. This is $11, ladies! It comes in tons of colors and is SO soft. Perfect for a half tuck with some summer shorts and under a cardi in the fall.
13. Hinge Lace Peplum Top. This comes in a classic black or white. I'm partial to white tops, so that'd be my pick!
14. Vince Camuto Stripe Back Tee. Love the stripe detail in the back! These are the kinds of shirts you can throw on with shorts or jeans, toss a long necklace over your head and head out the door. With shoes of course ;)

15. Caslon Braided Bootie. How fun are these braided straps?! I could only wear these in the fall and spring since winter is brutal here, but These would dress up any outfit in that effortless-chic way :) Comes in 3 colors.
